My TB is out 24/7 now on good grass in a 250g rug with hood, only he seems to be getting a bit hot so have taken the hood off, but am wondering if I should just stick a no fill rug on and may be get a hood to go with it ? It's definitly warmer here just a bit wet ??

Of six, four have no rugs on now, two very elderly ones have lightweight rugs on. It has been very mild here and they were all getting too warm. Don't think I've ever had rugs off this early before though.

I'm not a fan of lightweights, I believe they actually make them colder by flattening the coat.

However, my pregnant arab is out in a 100g rug. Other two are still in medium weights and will be for a few more weeks.

Ours were in their rainsheets a few weeks ago but then changed back to 40g rugs when the temperatures plummeted again. Even in the thick of winter the maximum they were wearing was 200g.

If they were clipped then that would have been a different matter of course. It's a lot milder here but very very wet.

Mine has been in a LW for ages! He is the warmest horse I have ever known and I struggle with his weight so he always has the least rugs I can get away with - if I let him get warm, he just piles the pounds on.

He has been in his LW since at least the end of Jan, if not before. He has a blanket clip, BTW.

Medium weight today - without the neck cover, which I may regret! Definitely the lightest rug he has been in so far, Spring may be around the corner yet :)

Yep! Grey horse just has a no fill sheet on - I'd happily leave him without but he lies in poo! (vain I know, so shoot me)

Even Brown horse is just in a summer sheet tonight because he was sweated up this morning in a lightweight turnout...and he has muscle problems that mean he has to be over rugged!

well mines been in with a cotton sheet or a l/w since about mid jan cos she got hives from being too hot in a m/w after the cold snap.

She is in a medium lite in the day but she is too hot and have considered rainsheet for a while now but I didnt want another rug getting dirty! Makes a change to last year where she was in a H/w with neck and 2 stable rugs!
