I don't I'm afraid, but if you email the contact details on that site I am sure they would be happy to chat to you about it as it something they are very passionate about. I know they have volunteering opportunities if you fancied some work experience.
For therapy you have to already be a mental health professional eg counsellor, as EAT is providing counselling, or you have to work alongside a counsellor.
I'm working towards it, I'm starting a certificate in counselling in September, will then go on to the 2 year diploma in counselling and after that train as an EAT.
There are two main training programmes, EAGALA and LEAP. EAGALA's model is to have a mental health professional and a 'horse expert' working with each client. LEAP train a counsellor to be able to provide the therapy on their own. I'm intending to use LEAP as I already want to be a counsellor so it makes sense to me to combine that with being able to provide EAT myself and not have to charge extra for having two professionals involved. I haven't looked closely at the EAGALA model but if you don't want to train as a counsellor yourself then EAGALA is probably the route for you.
Currently I help out with a local charity that provides Equine Facilitated Learning to young people. It's not the same as counselling but it gives me a flavour of what the work is likely to be.
Wonderful, thank you art nouveau. I am currently retraining after having children and I'm just coming to the end of my psychology degree. I'm exploring options as I would love to combine horses with helping people. I am going to volunteer with the RDA but I'll also look if there's any opportunities in equine assisted therapy/learning. I'll look at the the two routes also. Thanks!
