I was just wondering if anyone else is having trouble selling their pups??
We have 10 beautiful Labradoodle puppies and we have had no interest in them which is completely the opposite to the litter we had 18 months ago!!

It is frustrating because they all want individual attention but we just dont have time to give them it :(

Yep, people I know couldn't shift puppies by the German Sieger.
They still have three at home and one getting ready to be sent to Germany after five months.
I agree, don't breed if you don't have homes lined up. Going to be fun socialising ten pups, eh?
Please tell me this isn't the same bitch you have bred twice in a year and a half and please tell me you will do good by them rather than bump them to rescue or sell them to anything less than great homes.

Oh and there's no advertising on here, by the way.....

I have a litter of 6 puppies at the moment and only have 2 left to find homes for, they're 4 weeks of age :)

We had a bit of a panic as we had 4 bitches booked and had only one bitch so we were concerned about finding homes for the boys, but without advertising them anywhere other than our website we have had lots of enquiries, some no suitable of course.

Good quality, pedigree pups are selling at the moment. I have several friends who also have litters and they have found homes for all their pups. Its rather silly to have a litter of mongrels without any thought of finding potential homes BEFORE proceeding with the mating... There are whole litters of labs x poodles being handed into rescue because they are not selling, the "fad" has passed i think.

oooooooooooooooooooo will I or won't I? the concious angel says keep mouth shut. The wee devil on the other shoulder says wade in!

Okay, devil won!

maybe just maybe because there's enough folk out there with doodles that are tellin other potential doodle people that what hte breeders say about them being non-shedding and don't need to be health checked, and groomed once a year is all a buncha horse poo.

Sorry, bad devil - where did that come from?!

it certainly has - someone who used to report to me at work is a puppy farmer in his spare time, and he ended up giving away most of his last litter of labradoodles

The OP was very brave mentioning cross breeds in this forum!

How old are the puppies? Once they get beyond eight to ten weeks it will be tougher to sell them, especially once they hit three months. The thought of training ten labradoodle puppies would give me nightmares. Very cute but so crazy and energetic.

I suspect that smaller dogs might sell faster than larger dogs at present. There is a recession on. Rescues do seem to have noticeably more puppies than normal, and it will be interesting, and sad, to see how the Christmas puppies do this year.

Lol at BCs pic! Can only agree that maybe the bubble has burst for labradoodles, there seem to be a lot advertised locally. In the current economic climate I think people are thinking very carefully before taking on a pup, particularly a large breed. I hope you do find homes OP, and if not manage to find the time to give them the individual attention they will need.

Lol at BCs pic!

It's my new favourite, I've been waiting for an opportunity to use it! :o

What I can't quite get over with doodles is the size of the things, I hadn't realised until I met one recently what huge dogs they can be. The one I met was also absolutely, quiveringly, manically high-energy. Absolutely bonkers. The quiet old couple who were wrestling him down the street were at pains to tell me quite how much he destroyed at home and exactly how much he shed.

Well lets hope the OP is prepared to look after ten pups that they can't find homes for and not dump them on a rescue.

I'm sorry but that's what happens when people breed deliberate cross breeds with total thoughtlessness towards the consequences and it's the dogs, and reputable breeders and rescues etc, that suffer them. I can't understand either why people charge hundreds of pounds for a cross breed or why people pay hundreds for a cross breed when it's pretty much a money spinner.

Hope you find excellent, permanent homes for them and think twice next time

i recently helped a colleague find her first puppy. She had a few breeds in mind but imagine my sadness when she announced she wanted a cockerpoo! So i diligently searched the internet for a little cross breed cocker x poodle that wasnt be offered for silly money.
I eventually found a lovely little litter close by that were sensibly priced and came with no 'super dog this, non-shedding that' twoddle.
My colleague collected her little pup and has been thrilled with her ever since (although i still maintain she would have done better with a lovely little working strain cocker!)

I second the fact that some doodles are Massive. A friend of mine bought two from a breeder, from different litters but the same age, a dog and a bitch.
The bitch looks just like a chocolate lab just with a little bit of extra hair on the muzzle. The dog is a HUGE black thing, complete nutter, sheds everywhere. Lovely dogs but not quite what they were expecting i dont think.

I'll say it and save others the job - why the hell did you breed them if you didn't have homes waiting?
sorry agree as above
some pedigrees arent selling not alone the crosses

some of the fashionable crosses are advertise for far too much

hope you find homes for them

thats why i hadnt bred from my bitch..it was easier to buy one in,or if i ever did breed always have homes waiting

Are you asking for a lot of money for them? Perhaps you are not advertising in the right place- as some people have said, they are high energy dogs, why not advertise somewhere that agility or obedience/working type people frequent (are there places like that??) or maybe horsey people. Agreed though, I know you have heard it all before but why on earth would you breed them again if you didn't have homes lined up- surely you would have realised that there would be quite a few in the litter?

Please tell me this isn't the same bitch you have bred twice in a year .

And if the above is the case, that's disgusting! And if it's not, it's still disgusting - twice in a year!! Poor dog

ETA - just out of interest, has it occurred to anyone else that this is one of those threads designed to deliberately cause uproar?? I'm not being funny but just a thought

Well if it was the intention it has had the desired effect hasn't it.:p

OP - I really hope you have the space and time for all of them, please dont sell them off cheap just to get rid of them.

I had my puppy reserved before her mum was anywhere near the dad! There was only one puppy without a home at 8 weeks old and the breeder was desperate to hold onto him but a fab home up in scotland appeared out of the blue. When I see whole litters available at 8 weeks I question why the hell they were bred in the first place.

I must admit I despise this entire 'designer dog' thing, they are mongrels with unpredictable energy levels and no guarentee of not shedding. Rescues are full of them, I am not against mongrels I have met some amazing ones that are the result of an accidental mating.... I cannot fathom why anyone would breed them on purpose...

Ok I now have strength, someone gave it to me;)

Basically OP you are a whats known as a "back street breeder" someone who put no thought into producing a litter of puppies other than "I have a dog it has reproductive organs and it can make me money" you went for the designer X breed market hoping to make a quick buck (as you obs have in the past) and you failed miserably, but "only for the puppies" who will now no doubt be sold cheap as chips, because they are getting to big, crapping loads and are running riot, (not sure of their age, but must be passed selling stage, so their socialising is suffering, are they even all vaxed? have they been in the big wide world? are they toilet trained? all of which will make any home they go into now want to pass them on as quick as they took them at bargain price (if they are not good quality homes), and they will be passed on with their problems:(
If you are responsible you would have been going to offer back up, as in take them back if probelms occur, as it is you have not even gotten that far, so guess what? this is how it feels!!

As a rescue we rehome puppies very easily, why? because we vax, chip, socialise, neuter and insure them and offer "life time back up" for alot less than you would pay for an irrisponsibly bred puppy, we also find top quality homes and we make NO profit at all.
Please spay that bitch and learn a valuable lesson.

Im very worried about the future of the pups and would actually as wrong as it is, offer to take them all and rehome then responsibly but im sure they will be sold on at a bargain/clearance price.:(

*Bows down to Cayla* what an absolute wonderful woman you are

I have a waiting list for a litter that may never ever occur, all but one are already owners of this breed, have puppies from breeder friends who`s judgement I completely trust, work and/or show their dogs.
The litter will only occur if the bitch shows herself to be good enough both in the showring, harness and in temprement (shes showing that already) and of course if her breeder completely agrees.
There is also the major factor of it being the right time for us as we want to keep two of them.

I hope for the sake of the pups that you consider Caylas offer OP. Everyone else has already echoed my thoughts on the subject so I will refrain from adding anything further.
