Is badminton being shown on tv?!

I was just looking on the website, not today but tomorrow cross country is on from 12.20 red button.

You'd of thought with over 100,000 people/families going to Badminton or Burghley etc they would of shown more on TV . What there is on TV is a "game" that has bad language , over-acting ( Oscar standard )falling to the ground cos someone did a sliding tackle , fighting , death of spectators , all to watch a dozen or so overpaid men flounce around a piece of grass that you could graze several horses on ! Sorry ....hate football.

The radio coverage of the dressage on Radio Badminton has been very good, ok you can't see it but gives the idea of what is going on and some great one liners from Pammy Hutton:D

It's amazing isn't it, actually 250,000+ people go on XC day - it's the largest pay to attend sporting event in the UK and the second largest in the world!!

Why nobody bothers to put more on TV with this much interest I'll never know!

Yes , it was Clare Balding that mentioned it ... maybe she should be pressed to tell the powers that be that more should be on TV , not only the XC but the dressage etc . A presenter around the trade stands , walking the course , near/in the warm up area , at the stables , at/about the house , people that work at the event marshalls/vets/farrier/fence judges ,mounted runners etc etc . There really isnt any excuse , there is plenty to cover !

I completely agree with this! I'm off work until Monday - i usually work Saturdays so I thought that I could watch some Badminton coverage today and tomorrow (i don't have sky, only freeview) and then to discover that its only on Monday afternoon when i'm at work!! So annoyed :@

(i don't have sky, only freeview)

Don't worry it's not even on sky today/ monday!! So even if I had £100's to spend on it I can't watch any other than a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon on the bbc red button.

I can watch pay per view football/ boxing etc. I'm sure there would be enough people happy to cough up £20 to make it worth their while filming.

What really annoys me is that we have to have all the regular programs altered to fit in with football/golf/snooker/tennis . How many people that watch said programs actually do the sport ? How many people that go the Badminton etc have horses , their families etc etc ? Of all the people I know there maybe another 3 or 4 that go to something as big as Badminton , but loads do/would watch it even if they dont do eventing ... its horses ... thats all we need !
I think we need to complain to whoever covers it and BBC and Sky to get it covered , live would be great but at least highlights everyday , say an hour ?
How many of the riders are UK ? How many Uk riders are in the top 20 in the world ? But hey , lets not shout about it !
No no ... lets watch foreign footballers , playing in UK teams owned and managed by foreign people . ( please note that is not a racist remark .... ) I feel we should shout and support our William FP , Mary Kings etc that we have and are a great ambassadors of GB

BBC Sport will broadcast extensive television coverage of the 2013 Badminton Horse Trials from Gloucestershire.

The live action begins on Sunday, May 5, with full coverage of the cross country test from 11.50am on BBC Red Button and online via the BBC Sport website.

On Bank Holiday Monday, Clare Balding presents a special two-hour programme on BBC Two and BBC Two HD from 12.30pm, featuring highlights of the cross country action, then live coverage of the finale to the event – the jumping test.

Two weeks after the event on Thursday, May 16 at 8pm, Horse & Country TV will premiere a one-hour Badminton highlights show featuring key action from this year’s competition.

These are not my words!

I can understand not showing the dressage because unless you get it, it's like watching paint dry. But cross country is exciting for everyone- you either jump it first time fast, or you fall off/run out/ otherwise cause a spectacle. The adrenalin involved appeals to even non horsey people in my experience,

I think the dressage needs a good commentator and a copy of the test that they are doing so you know what should be happening ,otherwise it can be boring to watch but even if they show some and then maybe around the stands or talk to someone in the warm up area with a trainer so they can explain what they are trying to achieve or explain the movements then it would be interesting.

It always used to be on the bbc mainstream! It's a joke really.

Most annoying thing is that you can't record off the red button, so have to be in to watch it while it is shown. :(

I'll probably end up missing most if not all of it.

Actually you can record off the red button, or at least I have in the past straight onto my digi box though, it's on channel 301 so set it to record that channel and it 'should' work :)

Does anyone know the order for xc, will it be the same as the dressage? :)
