is bute allowed in affiliated SJ?

sorry to start this up again but its really confusing.

My friend is going to a four day show with her pony but he has a bad back. The back lady said he should be fine to go as long as she does small classes which she is doing.

Her instructor told her last night that they were going to give him bute but I didn't think this was allowed?

what are the current rules on bute in competition?

Bute is allowed in BS but not FEI classes

as FD said but is it really a good idea competing a horse with a bad back even if trainer says so?

i would never compete a horse with a known injury before it was sorted, jumping of any sort will not help the problem and giving it bute will just block the pain signals so the problem may well get worse without your friend knowing just increasing the problem

I told her that I did'nt think it was a good idea to still go but shes still going but I don't know what they are doing about the bute

Bute is allowed under BSJA rules but not under FEI rules.

As JC says, I don't think it's a very good idea for the sake of the horse, allowed or not.

It's a shame that your friend is putting competition before the welfare of their horse
