... the best place to sell second hand horse stuff including books??

Second hand departments seem to be very full, so Iam doubtful much stuff sells quickly with them
So now I am trying ebay

Anybody else sell (and buy) stuff on ebay?? Do you think you get bargains or ever get ripped off??

Thoughts please!!

I would say ebay would be your best bet.

As for getting a bargain or being ripped off i would say a bit of both.

You just need to be careful on what you buy.

When i first registered on ebay i sold a skeleton Halloween outfit of my sons(from tescos) on ebay thinking i would get like £2 or something and i got £35.55 for it.Hey i wasn't complaining they were the suckers who were bidding.

.

I have also bought a lot of books off ebay but for a bargain.

The problem with selling books on eBay is that it costs so much to post them - especially if they're hardbacks, which can cost £2.70 to post.

So it really does depend on how much the buyer wants the book and whether or not they can get it cheaper somewhere else. I buy paperbacks from a local chainstore (I think it's called The Works?) and they're 3 for £5. When I sell them on eBay it costs £1.90 to post them, so even if the book sells for 99p, it costs the buyer £2.90 for the book, when they could have gone down to their local shop and got 3 for a fiver!

I sold a 2nd hand Fal Viking on there which had literally only been worn three times and just had rolling mud marks on it. It cost me £150 and I got £30 for it on eBay. Someone got a bargain, but tbh I was quite p!$$£d off, as another one had gone the week before for over £60!

I use ebay to sell all sorts, ive always sold all horsey books or bits and bobs very easy, just make sure you do ask the minimum that you will be happy to sell it for, sometimes ive put a really low starting price and been a bit annoyed with myself I did'nt ask for more!

I've sold a load of stuff on ebay recently and it all went for good prices I thought. Horsey stuff seems to sell better than general things that I've flogged from round the house

I think if you aren't too worried about what it cost in the first place, you might be pleasantly surprised. I listed loads of stuff at 99p and it shot up in the last day or so.

Actually I'm quite addicted now and am having a massive clearout! Hopefully I'll finally have a nice minimalist house at the end of it all, meanwhile I've paid for my 3 day event at the end of the month with the proceeds.

I buy and sell second hand tack, saddles and anything equestrian in order to help pay for our horses. Ebay is ok but the seller changes are now being far too expensive. After listing, final value fees and paypal fees you loose over 10% of your sale price. I'm doing quite well with it but I've now built up quite a little business doing it. If anyone has some tack to sell then let me know as I'd be interested in anything

I usually find books if they are the right ones sell better on Amazon but you are best doing some research on prices first you can look them up with ISBN Number.

On Ebay If you sell enough bits and bobs it balances out as you may get £5 for something you thought worth more or £10 you expected to sell for £2.

I am just usually happy to clear stuff out get a few pennies and know someone is using it. All except me dads old typewriter expected a tenner and got £117 !!

I've made some good money selling bits and bobs on eBay. The fees have certainly gone up in recent years - it used to be extremely cheap!

I haven't sold anything for a couple of months but chap at work told me that eBay have put a ban on sellers charging for postage, or at least, setting a very low maximum postage charge which doesn't cover the things you sell.....so not sure how that's going to work?

I sell horsey stuff on ebay and have always done quite well on it! I am always surprised at the prices people pay for things - this week I put an XL bit on there that I thought would fetch a bit, and a lungie bungie that I thought would fetch nothing. The bit went for pennies and the LB for £10 odd less than it costs to buy new. Go figure!

I do however only sell stuff as I'm a terrible equestrian spendthrift, and I end up with all this stuff that I'm prepared to stick on with no reserve as I just want rid of it, and any pennies I get mean money off my next ebay purchase

Why not have a look at Amazon for selling books, you set up a seller account and have a look at what your books are selling for condition wise and its pretty simple and works well.
