Just want to see what people think. I think he's a nice size now and doesn't want to get any bigger, especially as he's 3, so thinking I'll cut back his hard feed, but any opinions appreciated. Also, he has this odd thing the left side of his chest... The smaller one is a tick bite but the bigger one has been there for quite sometime and now I'm questioning it... It doesn't hurt him, he isn't bothered by it in the slightest and I'm going to get the vet to take a quick look when they're out in a couple of weeks but just wondered if anyone had any ideas?

I know he looks mega bum high here but he's on a slope lol

Thanks peeps, home made tiramisu and a glass of rose for all :D

He is looking great. I think his weight is exactly right! As for the bigger lump... it looks like a bite aswell, but if it's been there for a while it might well be something else. Getting the vet to have a look when he/she is down will confirm it. :)

How beautiful is he! I'd say he's about the right weight, I wouldn't want to see any more on him though.

Very beautiful lad!

I don't know about the lumps, but keep a wary eye. Do they feel nodular/moveable?

My lad had fly bites and one turned into a nasty lump, eventually diagnosed as a sarcoid. It's all gone now, no sign at all after a quick treatment of Liverpool cream (cheap option, try to persuade a friendly pharmacist to give you Fucibet-for humans, prescription only but a friend got some last week as she is always in the chemist and it's worked wonders on her youngster's sarcoid).

I can send pics of my horse's lump to compare if you like.

Binky01 - thanks, I luuurrrvveee your boy too :D

My thoughts exactly about his weight, I don't want him getting any bigger and I'm glad people agree so I will be cutting down his hard feed to maintain his weight :)

cinammontoast - how do you mean nodular/moveable? The lump is under the skin but not attached to anyhting as such, you can easily pull it away. I was wondering if it may be a scaroid but all the images I found didn't look like it lol!

It doesn't seem to have a head as such, just almost looks like a nipple lol! Defo get the vet to take a look though, better safe than sorry :)

If he was fine I would want a bit of weight off him but then my bug bear is youngsters carrying excess weight.

It might be worth asking your vet their opinion when they are up as to his weight.

The only thing I can think of for his 'bump' is sarcoid but it doesn't look like any sarcoid I have seen before.

Oh, just looked it up lol! Well there's definitely a lump there. The smaller one is a tick bite, I took the tick off myself *eewwww* so really not sure about the bigger one...

Thanks eggs, I'm trying to be very conscious about his weight and agree that youngsters shouldn't be over weight, I don't want to put unnecessary stress on his developing body. Ditto the sacroid thing. I only started thinking it when reading some bits on here but everything I found doesn't look like what he's got, so all a bit odd...

Looks MEGA LUSH!!!!!! not fat. just sooooooper good looking ;)

A to the lump I have seen many before on my neds and there were ticks have attached themselves and the fallen off Just check it not got the head in there as if it does it will get infected. I live near a woods and have seen my fair share of tick bites and nothing ever bad happened to my horse, but if I caught the little critter on there I would take him off with a tick remover I got from the vets. typical places are neck, face, sheath area and any where with softer skin but usually not on the legs.

just read what you put earlier and realise this point is null and void! lol! :p

My pony had a small lump come up...it looked scaly and dry and warty and I was thinking sarcoid but kept an eye on it and 2 weeks later it developed a head and guess it was in fact an infected fly bite. Gave it a gentle squeeze and got all the pus out and then cleaned it up and it all cleared up within a matter of days.

Thanks peeps. It does look very similar to the smaller lump above which is a tick bite but it's been there aaggeess. I have tried squeezing it to make sure it isn't just a spot or something but nothing comes so I'm assuming it's not but then maybe it is from a tick and he's just got a lasting lump from it or maybe something else... Defo getting it checked though, glad everyone else is as confused at me hehe!

And thanks for all the lovely comments, he looks sooooo much better now then he did at the start of the year, just goes to show what feeding the right stuff can do lol!

He he, now I am sat in natural daylight and not with overhead lights on I can clearly see the lumps on the right - sorry about that :D

They aren't anything I would be worrying about ATM :)

Ah someone at my yard suggested that, but it's been there for months... How long do they stay there? Do they eventually come out?

He looks bob on, I wouldn't worry about the lump too much, probably just a fly bite but keep your eye on it to see if it grows or doesnt go down etc

He's a dude bless him :D

PS, just read on, yes I'd get the vet to look at it.

The lump could be a horsefly bite.

Every time my boy gets bitten by the darn things, he gets a big swelling, then a couple of days later a little bald patch appears around the sting, like in your photo. In my horse they can take a month to go down.
