Is he playing in water?

I recently recorded my sisters horse in the stream at the bottom of our field. He has been in this field for year but I found this video very odd, funny but strange. I was wondering if he was just playing in the water or if there was any other meaning/method to what he was doing?

Horses usually paw water to check the depth and for any danger.

As far as I can see he just looks like he's playing, doesn't look uncomfortable and mine plays pawing when we go through fords or if we stop in water jumps when schooling.

I've heard that they also paw to stir up the bottom and get access to trace minerals when they drink and in the clip he does have a drink after pawing.
