I am looking to share a lovely horse but i am not sure if her is going to be too big for me. He is a 16.2hh cob gelding and looks massive! I am 14 but 5'4'' ish. The lady who owns him is 5'7'' and she seems a bit small on him. Obviously it doesn't matter that much because he is an older, well schooled boy but i was just wondering whether her other horse (16.2hh Shire x TB) would suit me better size wise purely throught being less chunky!!

Please write back i am new to this forum!
:o

Hello and welcome :)

I really don't think it matters, as long as you are happy and confident and in control on the horses in question, then go for it!

Hi,

I would say if you feel comfortable and in control on him then size is irrelevant. There are smaller people on here with bigger horses I am sure. Hope it goes well for you and good luck :-)

well im 15 and about 5 foot 2 and i used to ride a 16.2hh belgium warmblood whowas a rather wide boy so aslong as you can control him i'm sure you'll be fine xx

Iam 5ft 2 and would be very limited if i only rode horses that were my ideal size (15hh) i have happily riden and compeated horses up to 17.2hh I dont care if i look a bit silly as long as the horse goes well and i feel safe.

Welcome to the forum!

I am 5'1" and own a 17.3hh.
If you feel you can keep him together and get him working then go for it.

I am much more comfortable and confident on something bigger

I'm 5ft3 and ride a 17.2!! See how you feel once you're on board you may surprise yourself... as long as you can keep him together I would go for it :)

Sorry for this long-overdue reply...i have ridden him twice now and decided to go for him...from the summer he is my new part loan!
(that means i have to leave Brommy :( )
He is absoloutly fine for me! He is big but very steady
xx
