I have just read yesterdays Nag & Dog & Horse & Hound have done it again. On Lucinda Green's feature of riding top horses. Last time she was on the front cover with a dressage horse this time inside of front cover with Robocop the show cob. If you read the articles Lucinda has a Felix the fox sticker on the front of her cap, where as on the inside of the front cover & when she was on the front cover she does not?????
What is going on here???
Did anyone else notice it or am I seeing things?????

TBH H&H are beginning to lose my vote. I think I'll be subscribing to Hounds from now on. H&H should change its name to 'Horse and Pony' or 'Competition Horse' because the hunting reports are appalling. Its a real shame.

The removal of 'accessories' from photos seems to be a growing trend. The photo of Boris Johnson on the cover of his recently published biography was taken at the last election. In the original he sported a blue rosette which has been air brushed out by the publishers. Brunel's cigar has also been expunged. However, Horse & Hound should know better.

SM, the thing is that there are so many riders that are either anti or dont care about hunting but still buy H & H because it's a good quality riding mag. If it started to include many more hunting issues it would alienate a lot of it's readers.

There's a always a copy of H & H back at my yard and no-one there is pro or hunts. Many people aren't arsed about hunting because it has nothing to do with their lives. Only in certain areas is it so heavily interwined with equestrianism.

True Endy BUT, dressage has nothing to do with my life, neither does flat racing or polo or Showjumping or showing, yet I still buy H&H and I don't feel alienated by the many articles that are aimed at riders purely competing in the above spheres.

It is Horse & HOUND...so lets see some Hounds!

Once again Peta you excel yourself.
As much as I enjoy reading the competition reports, the magazine is Called: Horse and Hound, it used to be brimming with good hunt reports and meets.
H&H are the only weekly update we have, and I must admit I read the sj and polo reports religiously much as I do the hunting reports, but there arnt so many anymore..

H&H definately isn't about hunting anyomre. I appreciate that reports are difficult to write nowadays, but two pages of photos is only intertesting of you know the people concerned.

I don't see what else they can do though, I have had to resort to reading the SJing and dressage reports!! Mmmm...

A good Editor gives the readers what they want. If H&H has decided to give less prominence to hunting what does that say about the readers? Perhaps that's why you're annoyed...

Just shows how bloody marvellous the editors of EDRD and Hounds e.t.c are then doesn't it!

H&H needs a kick up the backside! Just aswell whoever runs HHO had the sense to provide us with a Hunting Forum! Perhaps they should take over as Editor.

EDRD? Yes, I suppose someone who loves the idea of driving a stake through a horse on a public highway WOULD love a disgusting journal like that.

You really are a twisted fcuk! Have I once said I 'love the idea of driving a stake through a dead horse'? I still don't see the problem in it, its dead, even an anti on this site doesn't see the problem.

As for edrd, what is so disgusting about it?

You "don´t see a problem" with driving a stake through a horse on a public street? It's time you took a really good long hard look at yourself and your values.

Tell me the answer to the question I'm so tired of asking and perhaps I will bother to take your advice.

What is morally or politically wrong about putting a stake into a dead horse?

Disclaimer: SM does not say once that she feels this is a 'good', or even 'great' idea*

Firstly, it shows disrespect to the horse. Just because an animal is dead doesn´t mean you can do what you want with it.

Secondly, there is a strong bond between owner and horse. There´s a fixed thread on this site where people can post pictures etc of their horse which has died. What sort of person would want to put a stake through the body of a loved animal?

Thirdly, this was carried out on a public street. If this person really was desperate to impale the horse why not do it on his own land?

"If this person really was desperate to impale the horse why not do it on his own land? "

I wouldn't stand up for it at all.

However it was done on a public street because it was a political protest. Why do you have to ask such a question,?
it's perfectly obvious.I

People put bisected cattle in public galleries because they consider them to be art. They don't just saw farm animals in half and leave them lying around in their fields.

You and severn may be fans of impaling horses in the street but, thankfully, most pros thought it was a stupid idea.

Not particularily. It sounds rather unhygeinic, and possiby against the litter laws.

However it's not something that I'd get overly bothered about.

If it made people think then maybe it had some value. A little like those cows in tanks.

It's given you something to enjoy spouting off about so I suppose there's some benefit there.

Peta you have an annoying habit of grossly misquoting what everyone says, SM an AA (or EJ as he renamed himself whilst intoxicated) have NOT ONCE said that they approve of this action they are simply asking you to justify your opinion. And although it is rather grim surely it's a better political gesture than blowing up any poor sod who happened to be in the vicinity?

I feel I should be known as EJH although perhaps having three letters to one's name is a little self important.

I'm still researching the precise significance of my new name.

I may need to visit block busters.
