to have a younster right from birth to have for yourself? I wonder what it would be like to do that! Does it give you and pony a better bond? Or does it make them naughtier if they know they can get away with it? Its something i would consider doing later on in life!??

My home bred baby is rising 3 now and I have just backed her (by just hopping on her bare back in the stable!). She is the nicest natured, well adjusted horse I have ever known because she has been so well handled. I did have to be tough with her when she was a foal at times - she had to learn quickly that kicking was not acceptable, nor is sneaking up behind me and pulling my hair but because I nipped these things in the bud she is now exceptionally well behaved on the ground. I can't wait to break her in properly as she is a fantastic competition prospect - her daddy is Pro-Set

I really want a baby out of my mare but dunno how likely it is!
Would love to for the fact its her baby.

Mind you had mine from 6 and that was 8 years ago!

Yes it is for me and I'd say for my horses, however it can also be the ruin of many a fine horse if the owner has no common sense on how to bring up a horse.

Home raised horses are always extra-special; in my opinion much more so than any horse you could buy later in life.

I'd love to breed from my TBx but I think I'd be too worried in case anything happens. YO has ones of my pony's foals and as his attitude is bigger than a JRT's I'm quite glad he isn't mine

I think it is yes. It was my dream last year - but wasn't meant to be.

However, stabling my horse at my friends - where they are all home bred, it is wonderful to watch them from inception to established.

I often marvel at the fact that I am riding something that I have known from the word dot.

All the horses are very well mannered - but then they have been brought up to be.

I think it is amazing. Ive had one of mine since he was 6 months old, unfortunately hes not going to be big enough for me to ride reguarly, but i will back and lightly school him before handing him over to the kids. But he is amazing, yes he knows what he can get away with, but thats because there the things i dont mind about, but he also knows when hes pushed the line too far without me even having to say anything half the time! hes only two years old now, but i would trust him with any child to the end of the world, he is going to be one hell of a fantastic horse, even if it is only in my eyes and everybody else in the world hates him... but i believe that you get your own perfect horse when you have one from such a young age

Although i do also believe that some people dont have enough experience for this though, leading to some lary little gits being in the world
