Moving yard in 10 days (can't go too quickly) & I find that every day I am finding it harder not to tell nob family at the yard what I think about their poor horse care, herd of unruly kids & general stupidity.
I know they are novice but they have completely & repeatedly failed to learn from their mistakes despite a lot of help. Having bought 2 unrideable horses in 3 months that they don't know how to look after maybe they shouldn't be looking to get a third using the same choice criteria - extremely cheap, preferably free. Other person at yard managed to persuade them not to get a 3yo tb with really bad mud fever to go with the lame on 3 legs, half blind tb (bought for mum to ride) & the badly put together, possibly pregnant, maybe wormy, 2yo pony that they thought was 3 (bought for young child to ride). Obviously, having no experience of backing etc & being a nervous rider with no money to pay for backing etc it would have been an ideal choice.
10 days & counting......
 
I'd just leave without saying anything! but that's just me...even though I'm known for a couple of explosions!

Yeah, they are muppets, but the YO need to make sure they give the poor animals some sort of basic care....but of course as horse-lovers....we can't help but worry. :)

Keep looking forward to the new yard, and don't cloud your happiness by dingbats, all you will get is verbal abuse, which will make those 10 days feel like 100 years...

Hold your tongue. Hard but worth it. Your tackling these sorts of people will have absolutely NO effect on them whatsoever, except give them a reason to bitch. Maybe a diplomatic word with the YO about your concerns but that's all. Leave and enjoy your new yard. Sadly this sort of thing goes on. All we can hope it that there's a responsible and pro-active YO overseeing the horses' welfare.
 
Word with YO won't do anything - as long as the money keeps coming in he really doesn't care. Legal responsibilities mean nothing to him which is the reason that everybody on the yard apart from the dingbat family will be gone before the end of this month leaving them all by themselves which, given theirs come in by 5 & have run out of hay by 8pm & they are up at 9.30am at the very earliest, doesn't look good for the neds involved. At the moment it looks like they will actually be running the yard & looking for new liveries themsleves!
 
Keep your head down and say nothing - be the "bigger" person.

In just 10 days you can shake the dirt from the old yard from your boots and start the next chapter.

I know I won't really say anything as I'm rubbish at confrontation so try & avoid it. I'm banking on the fact that I'm gone hours before they come up in the morning 7 now it's dark they are gone before I get there in the evening so it's only the weekends to survive!
I was well peeved yesterday as I have a couple of days leave to use up before the end of Dec & took yesterday afternoon as kids should be back at school so should be able to groom my horse & go out on a nice hack without kids running in & out of the stable (& yes I do shut the door) or running up behind as I bring him in & generally pestering me non stop. What to I see as I drive onto the yard? 3 of the school age kids, a bonfire right next to the yard gate & their horse with conjuntivitis in the paddock next to mine despite my request to the contrary - he got conjunctivitis from their pony that they bought suffering from it.
