i have a friend who helps out at a local riding school in order to have lessons on her pony. she now is teaching some adult and childrens lessons, yet has no qaulifications. just wondering what would happen if someone was to get hurt???

They would not be Insured... If somene has not done there qualifactions etc and someone got hurt when having a lesson from them they would not be insured.
It's slighty different if you are at home and a friend comes over to help, but as its a riding school you must be so careful.

There are some top riders who don't have any formal qualifications, that's not the main problem. The main problem is when someone gets injured, or something happens & a client decides to sue. If she hasn't got insurance cover she may have a serious problem. She may be covered by the riding school insurance as an employee? But she may not be.

While many schools would consider qualifications to be essential, they are not. As long as she is not being misrepresented to the pupils and the insurers are aware that staff are being employed who are not qualified then I don't see a problem.
