i have a couple of ponies for sale ATM...on Horsemart.

i stipulate NO TXTS as i find it a rude and ignorant way to responde to an advert...what do i get 2 txts today from the same number.
so i ignore it.....

then i get an email from the same person...
can i give more info on my ponies for sale...
???

i was thought to be rude because i didnt answer their txts!!!!!

If they can't pick up the phone and ring then they aren't worthwhile and you aren't rude. How can you deal with an important thing like selling a horse by txts or e-mails, drives me mad.
 
I had a similar set of responses to an ad I placed on Horsemart several moths ago, for a 17.2 ex chaser, NOT novice ride, unsuitable for an inexperienced or nervous rider and only suitable for an adult, and I stipulated I was NOT agreeable to any form of swap/trial/loan agreement. 90% of the responses were from young teenage girls, and of these 90% I would say 99% of the reponses to my answers were rude. The best was a 13 year old who was very aggressive when I politely suggested that my advert did give her some clues as to why my horse was unsuitable and why I was not interested in her 15 hand 19 year old mare as a straight swap.

I hate selling horses!

I am hearing impaired, so texts and emails are much easier for me than phone. I would find it quite offensive if someone insisted on me phoning them and refused to respond to emails.

My mortgage is about to be renewed and my current mortgage provider will only answer questions by phone, despite giving an email address. I told them (by email) that I was considering reporting them to the Equality and Human Rights Commission and suddenly they agreed to answer my queries by email...

but NO WAY will i answer a TXT...it's just plain rude IMHO.

I personally have emailed and text after horses for sale due to me having only just enough phone signal to send and recieve a text message. However I do always explain why I am texting and appologise if they consider it to be rude and leave an email address if they find that more appropriate.

What's the difference? I have a Blackberry and the 2 are indistinguishable.
 
i am a technophobe....

i'll respond to an email on my lap-top..but not my Nokia...

thats just me i guess
 
Tescoexpress - I'm sure if you had texted JM07 saying you were hearing impaired and would rather communicate via text/email she would not think it rude. But being told the ponies for sale are 2 y o and then proceeding to ask about tacking up etc is just either a) taking the piss or b) indication that they know next to nothing about horses

Strangely enough I am rather embarrassed about it and don't like telling people! Noone at work knows, but they do wonder why I won't use a mobile phone and rarely answer my desk phone.
 
I have a heart murmur and get a bit embarassed about that so can totally understand tescoexpress. Though mine is an awful lot easier to conceal unless I'm having an 'episode' lol

if i received a txt from someone explaining that they had a hearing roblem, then i'd except any means of communication which was easier to them TBH

Same as JM07 again, I will respond to emails, but not text messages. However, if someone were to tell me they were hearing impaired, I would do my best to accomodate that.
I actually have a phobia about phones - I am perfectly OK to answer, but have a totally irrational fear of calling someone.

i also dislike ringing strangers but i usually call the number of an advertiser first , often they don,t answer as they are at work , or out shopping in a busy area so they text me , i personally don,t have a prob with texting , its no different to me than email , saying that if i am selling a horse i would want to speak to them on phone first as its much easier to have informal chat , gauge experience and suitability etc before they come to view , otherwise i spend my life organising everything by text or phone , its do much easier , JMO7 , perhaps a ....NO TEXTS PLEASE after your phone number may work? as for the numpties , you get them everywhere , my husband advertised a 1200 cc motorbike for sale , got a mail asking if it was suitable for a 16 yr old son to ride to college , its a bliddy rocket lol , my son just drag raced it it did 1/4 mile at 125mph in 12 seconds lol , some people are just plain stupid
 
The trouble is they genuinely ARE stupid and probably think all their questions to be relevent. The thing that troubles me most is that they will undoubtably get a horse/pony from somewhere.....
