Is it feather mites?

I noticed my cob has a number of scabs under her feathers, there's lots of flaky skin in the hair, looks like what you would expect for feather mites. However I have never seen her itching, stamping her feet or any of the common signs. What is the best treatment for them and can they gett them without showing any signs?

Are you sure it's feather mites? If she's turned out at this time of year it might be mud fever due to the wet ground conditions we're having.
