yes i think your right my mum came in from work the other day most upset as her friends sisters horse had to be shot after a horrific accident after 1 had spooked when being led to stable they had both got loose and ran down road both were hit, ones eye was hanging out and broken bones etc the other isin a bad way but will live, and not so long ago 2 horses near me escaped from their field they had managed to catch 1 and had hazard lights from helpers cars on and people standing controlling traffic however 1 idiot could not wait and overtook everything and hit the horse it had to be pts it was an ex racehorse i had helped re school who my previous boss had bought and sold he was 1 of the best horses ever

I think, riders have become more aware of how crazy drivers can be nowadays and take extra precaution while, a minority of drivers take even less notice and precaution. It's normally them that end up in the accidents... and come out unharmed.

I think the trouble is nowadays most people are so busy they are rushing everywhere including down country lanes. Everyone is also more preoccupied so don't see horses.

TBH I will not hack out on roads anymore I really can't see the need and certainly for me not worth the risk.

I still hack out as roads round us and most drivers fortunately are good

..however we still get the tossers that dont slow down

....WHY should we be chased from our country roads because of impatient drivers? do feel alot is because drivers have slowed down for riders in the past and not been thanked for it(yes we get assholes that wouldnt bother anyway

)..and i back that up because i am a horse owner and when i slow down for a rider that cant be assed to thank me,i wanna jump out of my car and slap them

"Tis you riders that give the rest of us a bad name"
Do manners really cost anything??
