Are drives getting down right worse around horses. When I was younger riding I never ever remember any behaviour of the sort I am seeing now!!

3 of us went out for a nice hack yesterday and the 1/4 of a mile bit of road we have to do before being all bridle paths we met a horrible white van driver.
He was coming at us at speed (we were single file) and there was a car parked on the opposite side of the road to us, I mouthed for him to slow down and signalled for him to do so also.
He then went on to speed up, tell me at the top of his voice to ****** off stick his middle finger up and press his horn all the way down the road till he was out of sight!! I am still seething now!
Wish I'd got his number plate but was in too much shock to think!

Any one else come into contact with these awful rude drivers?

I've only ever experienced one douchebag who decided to overtake my bolting horse down a windy country lane

It's a white-van-man though, wouldn't expect much else! He probably thought you were hurling abuse at him

I had the opposite today,

I'd collected two big bales.of haylage with our trailer and my truck.

Saw a big Friesian type horse that freaked out last time he saw me when I pulled over and turned my engine off.

I slowed right down and remained around 500 meters behind the horse in the hope that the rider would pull into the junction and turn his head to see me about 300 meters ahead.

She obviously has worked miracles and decided to signal me too pass.

Now bear in mind, there's a 200ft cliff on one side of the road (old quarry) so I was more than happy to wait and pass very slowly.

She signals me to go again and looks at me stupid. So I slowly pick up speed and approach her at around 10mph.

Just as she said "get on with it you stup..." The horse rears up and throws the gobby cow.

I pulled up and approached the horse,.after catching him and checking him over I walk with horse back to owner, only to be told it was my fault for holding back I should have just shot past.

Poor flaming horse. Stupid 16yr old girl with 50 years.experience

Mountain horse, I totally get what you're saying and that girl seems like an idiot, but my horse is fine with big clunking tractors driving by... it's when they stop & switch their engines off that she thinks WTF?!?!?!?!? and starts getting suspicious and edgy.

Regardless, I sure don't expect drivers to know that. It's nice that she was so grateful that you bothered catching her horse!
