I will ride Roo 5-7 nights a week for months on end, and then I just stop riding.
This week I did a short hack on Sunday and I think I rode on Monday although I may not have done.
I do go visit her, and groom her etc, I just go through phases of not riding her as much. I'm going to the yard after tea today, but I don't yet know whether or not I will ride.
Does anyone else do this?

My riding tails off in the dark winter months. I have no school, so once it is really dark, I can only ride on weekends... bummer.

I do! Even though I have my two horses at home, I only really like riding with others ... going out to hack somewhere more interesting than here or to go hunting or events, I hardly ever ride on my own, if no one else comes down during the week I just won't ride, especially in the winter.

Yeah I'm the same. In winter I'm not really bothered about riding as I can only ride in the school after work cos it's the only place with lights, and sometimes hack out at weekends. It's funny cos my yard is really quiet during the week then as soon as it's the weekend everyone arrives, tacks up and we go out en mass.

Mine's old though so I prefer to ride regularly so she doesn't get stiff, but then if the school is in use (last winter was ok but now YO has started a riding school so it's in use most nights) I can't ride. Do you think if she's out in the field she'll be ok and won't get stiff?

Yes, I do this as well, sometimes I am all enthusiastic and other times I cannot be bothered, luckily I have a horse that is the same if ridden everyday or if she is left unridden for days (albeit not as fit obviously)

Sometimes I think I need a kick up the bum!

I think it suits her too though, she is a bit lazy like me!

I do not ride as much over winter as i simply dont get the chance what with night school on top of full time work, i do not ride in the school on the whole as seren hates it, in summer i will ride of an evening when i fancy it, but it is just weekends and possibly any days off on holiday that i will ride out side the weekend now.
Thankfully my horse does not change if not ridden, she doesn't give two hoots if she goes out or not, will quite happily be a field ornament in fact

Another one guilty of this, well in winter anyway, I think when it gets to this time of the year your motivation starts to wear thin when your juggling your chores and riding with the dark cold winter nights, specially if most of the other liveries are on full livery, its not much fun been all by yourself mucking out two horses late on at night on a farm with nobody about

....never mind riding in the school.

Sorry a short answer would of done...YES
