I dont know whats got into my STUPID mare at the moment but shes suddenly decided she has a phobia of rugs and would rather freeze!

Shes been naked for well over a month now but as her summer coat is so fine and the weather has turned (she feels cold behind ears) so for the last week ive tried to catch her to rug her but she legs it everytime she sees the rug, even leaves her feed to bolt off away from it! Shes normally the best/easiest to rug out of my lot but whilst the rest seem greatfull for theirs on seems she would actually rather freeze than have a rug on!

Anyone elses or just mine? :-P

My old Welsh won't have a rug on until unless it snows or hits minus double figures and then when you put it on you can see him sort of snuggle into it.

My Connie did this - was full clipped and out naked for a week last winter when it was bitter - couldn't catch him for the life of us. He survived though!

My mare is fine with rugs in the winter, but now its warmer, I only rug if its going to rain a lot. She doesn't like getting soaked, but unless she agrees that its going to rain very soon, she objects to wearing one.
She'll go out very grumpy, ears back and pulling faces at her field mates. If I then take the rug off, she immediately returns to her affable self.
She knows what she wants and I leave her to it.
