I've had several horses over the years, that found me, as I was not looking to buy, and each have had behavioral problems, some very bad and I've never been able to say no. Some have been unridable and down right vicious to begin with, but got better over time. I've never past them on and when the time came had them pts at home. The horses I have gone looking for to buy have turned out real sweethearts and again they've never left my ownership, except for one many years ago. So is there such a thing as Kismet where things are meant be?:)

I think so yes. I am a strong believer in fate, destiny etc and also luck! Both my horses sort of ended up with me, mainly because no one else wanted them and I was in the right place at the right time! I am very close to both of them and fully intend to keep them for life. Love them lots and couldn't imagine being without them!

Yes! I looked for 9 months after losing my previous 2 in quick succession.

Literally travelled the country searching. Had three 5 stage vettings done and turned them down. I turned up to look at Star and the second I looked over the door I knew we would get on. I rode her and she was awful, but I just thought, we could work on that! Really not that important!

When I went horse shopping I was looking for a gelding, ISH, preferably bay, about 15.2, aged about 7 to 8.

I ended up with my little angel, mare, arab x, strawberry roan, 14.2, aged about 17 - and she is perfect.

So, in conclusion - Kismet.

I planned to sell Daisy for a good price and buy a talented youngster with the potential to go BE. Unfortunately Daisy turned out to have a low grade bilateral lameness that got picked up my the farrier having been missed by two vets.

After retiring Daisy I thought my plans were over and that I'd have to just share my friends horses for a year or so while saving up. My instructor knew what I was looking for and knew of a horse that wasn't for sale but she thought would be ideal for me. Several phonecalls and two visits later Lil was mine!

If Daisy had sold for a decent amount of money we'd have gone down a very different path and I don't feel I would have developed nearly so much as a rider. If Lil had been advertised for sale she'd have been far more than I could afford and someone else would definitely have snapped her up.

For all that she was very cheap and is a little crabby, BE is a very real possibility for the future. I'm so excited about the fact that we found eachother and to see where we're going together.

Yup.

I knew as soon as I saw Tigs that I would buy her and I just knew that it would not be happy ever after. I looked after her as best I could and made the hardest decision when it was the right thing to do for her. It is said that many wouldn't have done the same.

Dizz. Saw her a year before I bought her. Didn't like her. Saw her a year later and fell in love. Again, we've been through the mill and again, I have and will continue to do what is right for her :).

Definitely .

The thought of even owning a horse had never crossed my mind. Then my dad introduced me to someone who worked in our local pub who was looking for someone to help out with her pony, me and flares clicked immediately, after a while of having him on part loan, I had him on full loan then his owner who was now one of my best friends by this point asked me if I wanted to buy him.
I couldn't be without him now he is a very special pony.

I have also ended up with a youngster who was owned by gypsies, I fell in love with her straight away and ended up buying her. She has turned out to be really amazing.

I wasn't looking to buy a horse at all it just sort of happened in both cases and I love them both very much.

I was looking for a 15.2hh, but was offered a 14.1hh and wasnt going to even look at, but i did go, and loved him and teddi is now with us for good :)
also saw snowflake advertised and liked the look of him, but he'd gone when i rung up about him, was randomly browsing internet ads, and he was readvertised. People never turned up for him, and Stella loves him and rides him..... hes mental just like her, but a great lead rein pony. And is going to be the jumping pony shes always wanted when shes off the lead rein!! :)

Definately :)

when i was looking for my first horse i was looking for a novice ride between 14.2hh-15.3hh cob....preferably a gelding
ended up coming across Lady, a scruffy, neglected, nervous yet excitable TB mare....definately not a novice ride....but i fell in love with her straight away and we just clicked :D
now shes my best friend and i could never replace her, im the only person who is able to ride her and we trust each other completely :) so definatly fate happened <3
