Is it me or does this winter seem to be dragging on?

I just can't believe how much bad weather we've had and what a bad effect its had on the fields and our school which currently resembles more of a swimming pool.
I honestly feel I'm doomed, every time I try to get my baby horse into work something jumps up and stops me.
I'm fed up with pushing wheelbarrows through deep liquid mud to get the hay out into the field and poo out and tonight I took pity on my big ned, who lives out, and bought him in he just looked so depressed. When I bought him in he was so eager to get into a stable I swear he had me skiing behind him. When 17.3hh wants to go somewhere its ruddy hard to stop 'em!
Please hurry up better weather!!

I know the feeling, think it's because we had such a wet summer and such a wet winter last year too. It's as if it's been raining for over a year! Yes winter is certainly dragging!! I'm getting fed up of the mud too, and I know my boys are, but the three of them are total wimps anyway lol!!

Tell me about it!! And to make matters worse hose pipe burst in our field so gateway -- eurgh! Straw reel being put across 2moro but i can imagine myself getting it stuck and just its not going to be fun. Also want to get those long summer nights in! I have a lot of work to put into my horse after my confidence crash last year! And he's grey. Today he came in today and his stomach just had like an inch thick layer of mud across him. Joy.

I agree the weathers rubbish, every time i plan to ride ...rain....ice...roll on spring and summer

Nope I've had enough too, looked at the diary and my first event is the middle of March, horse is no where fit just can't motivate myself.
I think next year I might take 6 months off work, go abroad and do some showjumping for the winter !!!!!! (At which point I wake up smell the roses) Oh well it was a nice dream whilst it lasted LOL

I am actually going to keep my horses in over the weekend as I'm sure they are as fed up with the weather and mud as I am. They will be excercised and then go back in their stables.

My husband tells me to stop moaning about the rain, but he's not the one wallowing in thigh deep mud at 6.30am in a gale force wind and pitch black. True, it is my choice but woudn't it be nice to have a drought in winter!

Lol, yes although the cold weather had it's problems, it was nice too have hard ground with no mud, and you could actually push a wheelbarrow into the field with no problems!!

I just hope that we can have a summer to moan about the heat, last summer was hardly impressive but at least it wasn't quite as wet as the year before. Please, please please God may we have some sun so I am no longer so pale I'm blue, please let us have a summer so hot you melt as soon as your show jacket goes on and I wish to god it wasn't a welsh cob that I was running up in hand. I promise I will get up every morning to get my beasties in out of the sun without a moan

Til then I'll slop through mud, my cobs white fluffy feet disguised as brown dredlocks

OK i'll give you that.... why is it the always seem to kick it up the back of your legs/thighs..? i look like i've done ten rounds with mr tyson by the time i've made it into the yard!!

i always seem to make it 3/4 of the way in then SPLASH they get me with some move i was not ready for!! alright for them and their hairy legs! i got to wash mine afterwards!

Know exactly what you mean - tonight the cob managed to splash mud up the front and backs of my legs - to mid thigh! - only clean bit of jods was the bit inside my wellies!! Its a very special skill!! muddy legs?! - they are mud encrusted as well - have forgotten they are white normally has muddy dreads from the knees down!!

My thoughts, entirely! I hate the cold, i have bad circulation and my fingers hurt so much! Its hard to muck out, untie haynets and unfasten gates when they are like that. Spring will seem like paradise!
