Is it me, or is it getting more common...

Tbh I find gangs of lads in chaved up cars some one the most considerate drivers - I guess when you've spent all your money on neon running lights and other such essentials and your insurance is about the same as the Greek national debt, the last thing you need is a horse hoofing the side out of your pride and joy because you've scared it.

It seems some drivers are just anti anything that stops them driving at 60mph at all times. Once had a driver cut so close in a narrow lane my stirrup hit the side of car hard luckily horse boomproof but i bet driver gave more space next time!!

I have found the same - often to my surprise.

I have to agree about Audi/BMWs... it is the reason I have resisted driving hubby's Audi - I almost feel I need to wear disguise in case someone I know sees me!

Well I had a guy LOOK at me at a junction joining my road and then just pull out anyway! Had to slam my brakes on and move over to the other side of the road to miss him, had there been a car coming - well I hate to think! I beeped like hell at him, what did he do? Just drive on as if nothing had happened! I firmly believe about 30% of drivers shouldn't be on the road. I've just been looking at big stickers to go on the back of my trailer to try to make people rethink overtaking me on every single double white line they can find :( Actually thinking about fitting a dash cam and reporting them - does anyone know if this is possible?

With regard to BMW drivers, well all I can say is my OH smashed his one into a stone wall at 60mph within 2 months of owning his one... he's never allowed to have one again! Only yesterday I spotted an idiotic driver (not even driving!), a flashy white Merc sitting in a space outside Tesco's with its engine RUNNING and 2 very small kids sitting in the back watching TV while I guess their parent went off to do their weekly shop! Amazing stupidity I thought! I almost wanted to get into the car just to repark it somewhere else and teach her a lesson!

Agree...I do drive a black BMW! And it is sporty and quick but I don't drive like an idiot in it.

Worst for me is when I am in my Jeep (more popularly known as the mobile dog kennel)..yes my car can happily go off road and no I am not going to bury myself in a hedge when I have no idea what is under it!

Roads are busy. I would say as a general rule of thumb that riders will avoid given any opportunity now and whereas I was never bothered before, I would no longer livery at a yard which had a lot of roadwork.

A colleague of mine was seriously injured by a driver who overtook a car on the brow of a hill (never mind the solid white lines as well) and drove into him as he was coming the other way.

This happened so my OH. We were leaving the yard, pulling out at a safe speed to turn right (large traffic jam all the way down, the lane is on the brow of a hill) and some impatient idiot came bombing down at 50mph on the wrong side of the road and straight into us. We were very lucky, as was the 3month old baby in the car with him!!!

I tend to ride alone, but if there isn't space I will ride further out and stick my schooling whip out too. It's worked so far, as soon as there is space again I will move back.

ETA there is also a couple of chaps on mopeds that always stop and turn them off for me :) the first time I saw them they were bombing along revving their sewing machines, and I hand signaled for them to slow. They actually pulled up and turned the engines off! I thanked them a lot, and they now do it every time they see me :)

No, my opinions are definitely developed from first-hand experience. When my horse was alive I was driving 60 miles every day on motorway, A roads, through industrial estates and down country lanes. If you can think of something illegal to do in a car, I saw it and the vast majority of those drivers were behind the wheel of something large and German.
