OK right I seem to go through bales and bales of Bedmax...at the mo using four a week

,partly due to field flooding,so having to use more as the fat one has to stay in.When I talk to people they tend to use two a week, and when I read the sides of bales of what ever bedding I love the fact that most manufacturers say use no more than one to two bales to maintain your bed.....Ugh,am I fussy,am I abnormal.....how many bales do you use per week?

PS:-My cob is a big boy,big feet and all.....but he ain't what I call a dirty horsey!

Another PS:-I use about three normally per week!

My girl is in 7pm to 7am and I use two bales a week. I could use more, in fact I would like to use more so that her bedroom was utterly deep and cosy, but just can't afford it! She used to be untidy, but now she is on much more grazing with something to munch, she is much happier, and therefore much more static in ther stable. I think she goes in, has a munch of hay, has a yawn and then has a zizz. Because sometimes in the morning there is just one enormous mountain of elephant poo just in one place, so she obviously doesn't move around very much!

She is 16hh big and has quite big feet too!

I tried these for a while, I have a clean horse who I semi deep litter, I lift his bed every 10/14 days, when I take out 11/2 barrows max, top up with 2/3 Hunters a month. Unless he has a paddy his bed stays white and clean/dry.
My other horse is very dirty, but keeps it to two distinct areas, one wet and one poo. I sprinkle shavings on his poo area and have a normal bed for the rest of his box. He has a bale of Hunters most weeks. They are both on 4" springy rubber bedding. I found the bedmax really expensive to use because its not very absorbent, I tried it on top of a layer of normal shavings which was better but took me longer to muck out.

Crikey - is your bed huge? I bed on Aquamax and use about 1 - 2 bags / week depending on how much she has to stay in. Her bed takes up about half the stable and is quite deep with huge banks. Took me a while to build it up.
She used to be on shavings and Nedz Bed mix, which I deep littered and, again, I found 1 - 2 bags / week was sufficient to keep a nice dry bed and maintain the size of my banks.
She's quite wet, but keeps it all in one place so doesn't 'contaminate' the whole bed.

On bedmax - 12ft x 12ft stables both in from 6pm - 6am.

Messy mare has a bale every 4-5 days, clean gelding 1 every 10 days - beds 5-6" thick and banked.

Muck out fully every day and leave bed up against walls then bring down at night
