So this weekend my OH and i drove just over 3 hours to the East of england show as per various websites working horses were a large part of the show.

http://www.britishfestivaloftheworkinghorse.co.uk/

I can accept that the show was poorly sign posted (internally) I can accept that the working horse area especially the logging demo was stuck at the back of the show behind a building so the loggers gave up because no-one knew they were there! I can accept that due to the weather the previous day many heavy horse owners, working horse owners and loggers were not in attendance

BUT what i cannot understand is that when i approached 3 men wearing horse logging branded t'shirts and offering my apology if i had interupted (had stood waiting to speak with them for a good 10 mins in clear view)

I explained that i have a massive interest in draft horses and wanted to know if they knew of anyone in the North west who did logging or forrestry work with draft / heavy horses as i would love to gain more knowlege/experience. Two of the men said 'oh speak to Doug' and walked off !

Erm not very helpfull when at a show with 1000's of people and have no idea what 'doug' looks like!! I knew they meant Doug Joiner but seriously!! If they want to promote this kind of activity surely being this way isnt going to attact new people to it?

I did however speak with the 3rd man called Richard Eames who was lovely, very informative and generous with this time.

I was shocked also that a well known draft dealer didnt seem to want to speak with any of us 'public' and kept herself away from us (litrally at the back of the demo arena chatting to a friend)! A few others who were stood waiting to speak with her were shocked at quite litrally being ignored. The poor groom looked embarrased and tried to handle as many questions about the breed as she could.

Maybe it is just me but for one if i was a breed dealer i would happy to discuss the breed with those interested in the hope this may generate business?!

Some people make no sense! Even if they'd eventually spoke to you, you'd not feel like buying from them or working with them after being blatently ignored for ages. It's awful when people think they're too important to speak to anyone else.
