Does that mean you've previously ridden at a much higher level and have downgraded yourself somehow? In that case, it might be within the rules but not really fair if you are aiming for an AF - why not go for the regionals at prelim and AF for novice?

If you've never been above group 7 though, go for it!

Have points at Elem, but am in the 14 point buffer zone, so have gone back to being a Grp 7

Go for it, I have long since realised that morality and ethics do not go hand in hand with dressage!

Seriously though last year when we went to the regionals with Diva she was the only horse who had ONLY been out at Novice everything else was competing at Elementary and Medium and one horse was even in the medium regional class.

This year I have wised up a bit and stepped up my game, it is a serious case of if you can't beat 'em join 'em!!!

I just missed out on qualifying for the Petplan final and she had to miss the regionals for her back so I have said I want to try again this year when she is back to full fitness.

Yes, at Addington one chap

, competed, and placed, in both the Elementary AND Advanced Medium classes so there is no reason at all why you shouldn't drop back if you want to have a go and qualify for the Prelim regionals.
After all, once you've got those extra points at Elementary you can't turn back the clock so I say go for it whilst you can!

Go for it I say as long as you are happy and enjoying yourself!! We do need realistic goals though too, especially if you are the competing kind.. you like to know you have a chance !!! Which I am sure you do!!!

Blimey thats 2 classes difference... if you know what I mean!!!Maybe Elementary and Medium....FinnMcCoul.....naw..............go for it I say....although you do not need a big flashy warmblood to win any class.....there are plenty of horses out there part/bred etc... with wonderful paces of their own which match up to Warmbloods!!
