Is it my saddle?

When I ride my cob I end up with a very delicate problem as if I have tipped forward in the saddle and chaffed my front bits. Its very sore and I dread riding her because of it. She is wide backed but the saddle seems to fit her well. This does not happen when I ride my other horse but he is a smaller frame. I have worked really hard at my riding seat and everyone says its really good, but this is no fun. Is it my saddle or me. I ride in a GP saddle

If it were you (eg. if you tend to tip forwards) I'd expect you to get it when you ride your other horse too. Do you ride the other one in the same saddle?

The saddle may fit the horse but does it fit you. Too small a seat can tip you forwards because you are sitting on the slope of the cantle.

If you only get it in one saddle, it's your saddle! There's some saddles I just cannot sit comfortably in. There was one at a riding school years ago that I actually had to get off and give up!

Different saddles suit different shaped riders. I need something with a flat seat, low pommel and a wide twist. My friend HATES my saddles and needs a narrow twist and a higher pommel. I refused to ride in her saddle ;)

Do check the balance of your saddle is correct as that will throw you onto the pommel if it's not. If it's an otherrwise good fit, try a seat saver and a peice of foam under it to alter the balance a little for you (but not the horse)

I am only small 5'4" and 8st 7lbs. I will try some of the suggestions which have been great. But maybe it is time to change her saddle. I have always been more concerned about the fit for her, but maybe I should also consider the damage being done to me. I will call the saddler and see what can be done. I ride at the moment with two sheepskin seat savers and Bridget Jones pants!!!! Thank you for the feedback
