BE rule-wise, cant find this in the rule book.

But where the start and the finish of the XC are right beside each other (ie. one of the finish flags is on the start box) then is it ok for the starter to start the competitor as another horse is just finishing?? (thats a lot of the word "start"!!). I just think its rather dodgy having a horse galloping past just as another horse is in the start box meant to be going off in the other direction?

I doubt there's any rule but starters are very conscientious of where finishers are and generally warn you if there's one coming. Also you can always ask for an extra 30 seconds if you are worried (around here you can anyway and I do know most of the local starters well!)

I noticed a couple at Larkhill set off just before someone finished. I think that was just unlucky timing, none of the horses seemed to worry.
