tinned sardines/pilchards in tomato sauce?

We have an 18 month old rescue GSD who isn't a great eater and is slightly underweight. We have tried a few dry foods and he isn't keen on any of them. We feed him Skinners Duck & rice but to get him to eat it have to mix it with something else. We either mix in our leftover dinner or a tinned sardine. He can't get enough if we mix in a sardine and he is starting to put on weight but I just wanted to check it wasn't doing him any harm.

Thanks.

I don't mind him being a bit lean but I worry because he lives outside and I would prefer him not to be too lean going into winter.

Perhaps I'm just worrying to much :)

When we walk hound pups we always add tinned sardines to their feed - good for them and they love it.

Would stick to the ones in oil, rather than tomato, especially if you are encouraging weight gain.

Thanks Sidney I hadn't thought of oil instead of tomato. I was avoiding anything in brine but will look for oil next time.
