I have a skewbald head w gets really dirty! I haven’t bathed him yet as it’s too cold but will soon and was just wondering if it’s ok to use purple shampoo on the light brown parts of his coat? I know it probably is but I’ve seen some people use purple shampoo on the white parts and a different part on the brown x

That might just be because the purple shampoo is more expensive and they don't want to use more than they have to. I wash all over with cheap Aldi shampoo then do a second wash of the white bits with the more expensive (and effective) stuff. I had never used purple shampoo before but discovered the John Frieda version this weekend....magical stuff!

It is fine to use but in my experience purple shampoo is great at making off white parts glow white but not so good at cleaning - when i showed a piebald and wanted him properly show clean(and he was/ is a full on hairy so this was some feat) i started with a good general horse shampoo(my go to product is ‘dirty beastie’ (partly because I love the name and partly because it works) all over and then purple shampoo the white areas (like you might tone blonde hair) then do any yellow areas left with chalk (which was brushed out just before going in the ring…) the purple shampoo wont do any harm to the coloured area it just doesn’t really get them clean

It's fine since it doesn't do anything but lighten your bank balance!
Just use warm water and human shampoo. For extra gleam , you can't bear Henny feather soap on white hair.
