Is it possible to buy a horsebox for £5000?

I was wondering if I would be able to get anything half decent? Only needs to be able to fit 2- but must be able to be driven on a car licence?

you'll be struggling with getting it to carry 2..before you worry about your 5k budget, sadly.

do you mean in terms of payload? I would need it to be able to carry 1200kg all in (2 x ponies 2x people and tack plus fuel.)

Agree with BB - you will need a 3.5t to drive on a car licence unless you have grandfather rights to drive a 7.5t. I have a 3.5t and I can only carry one horse at time in order to remain within the payload. By the time to have hay, water, tack, horses, fuel and people in, you will probably be overweight.

good rule of thumb..given to me by a horse transporter..is 750kg for each out fit..whether its a pony or a horse..then you'll never be overweight.

2 x 750kg = 1500kg..you will need a payload of 1500kg

wow ok- thats a shame. My two weight 400kg each. OH and myself total 130kg. Tack and rugs/hay nets etc when we weighted it all to hire a 3.5kg equi trek totaled just under 60kg. So the rest would be fuel- no idea what this weighed but we guessed 200kg hence the 1200 payload I was looking for.

Most of the renaults/equitracks and malbrough's I've seen have enough payload but are 2-3 thousand out of my budget. Gutted- its taken 3 years to save the £5000!!
