At a livery yard?!
I think ive decided much as i love my current little private rented set up that if we dont manage to buy the field we have on the cards (auction so could go either way) that i have to leave.
I have the possibility of rehoming TB when the possibility finds a new home for her current horse so i wonder if at a push i might be able to afford DIY livery for my horse and daughters pony.
Problem being my horse is the most horrendeous windsucker i have EVER known- I work at 2 racing yards and nothing there is even close. Its very loud and frequent.
I dont use a collar but painting the top of his door in cribbox stops him whilst stabled as long at their is no where else in the stable for him to bite.
In the field he cant have post and rail and will pull out wooden posts for electric fencing.
At home i solve this by screwing isolators in the top of the posts and running an extra tape along the top. I also make sure he has somewhere to suck on (metal gate or we bang a post in by the gates!) He grazes much of the time in the field but is quite destructive if people are around and not giving him attention!
ermm, he's also a rug ripper sometimes (others not his own)
Is there any chance? How would a yard cope with a resident so special!

A lot of yards are still worried about windsuckers. But there are yards out there that dont mind, mines a wind sucker, and weve just taken on a livery who has one. The owner was very worried and asked whether we vet horses first.

My mare goes out with 5 other horses, some youngsters, and is stabled next to and opposite several horses. NONE have shown any interest in her habit. If you read about it, it is serriously rare for horses to copy, about 1% i think i read.

You should find a yard somewhere :)

We have a few windsuckers at our yard . . . they do it in the field, on the yard (tie up areas) and not one other horse has copied. YO would only have a problem if they serially destroyed fencing or stable doors . . . but they are managed to avoid this.

We have 2 windsuckers on a big yard. They have been there for years and windsuck constantly. No one bothers about them and no other horse has copied the habit.

You will find somewhere. Try a riding school.

I was going to put my cribbing chap on a nice yard and all the YO was worried about was door ruining which is completely reasonable and I think she wanted him to wear a collar (he has one but I don't put it on that much). I don't think they copy but I'm sure you will come across plenty of people who think they do... Who cares! Prefer to keep him out so didn't need a yard in the end.

To be honest I think that people are generally more enlightened these days with regard to other horses copying windsuckers. Yes the noise can be irritating but usually stables can be 'horse-proofed' so long as both YO and owner are honest with each other and work together. My only issue would be with the rug ripping but even this could be overcome providing you were happy to double line your field with plastic posts and electrified tape to keep horses apart. In other words - your horse is not an unsolvable problem!!
