Is it possible to keep the inside of your car clean?!

NO, totally inpossible. Just accept that you have a "farmer's car" and embrace it.

My OH says my car smells terrible! I have clean tack in the boot and have avoided keeping any girths or Saddlepads in there! The rest is somewhat clean... minus the about of hay in the footwell that could probably amount to a full bale. Took me an hour to hoover it all out and I have to have a new car freshener thing every week! I don't smell anything so I'm fine! I just hate the mess!

I found giving the seats a bit of a scrub with a cloth and some spray cleaner for the kitchen surfaces helped get rid of the horse smell.

Rubber mats everywhere (the expensive ones made by your manufacturer if possible just to ensure close fit), plastic boot liner (ditto), nice 'luggage' for boots/hats/etc, never ever eat or drink in the vehicle, and sufficient pockets in your yard clothes that grooming kit can be stuffed into them meaning the outside of the grooming box stays pristine (likewise 'luggage' never touches the floor). Many babywipes/keep clothes brush for upholstery in boot of car.

Personally I live with a bit of staining on the seats as I don't want leather and wouldn't enjoy sitting on a plastic-y or beaded seat cover either but am trying a few new cleaning products for the fabric.

Periodic vacuum/valet - say once every 3/4 exterior washes?

I'd put a date in my car. But not necessarily one I wanted to impress!

I bought my brothers pristine boy racer looking fiesta. It's the nicest car I've ever had, it was immaculate! Had it 3 weeks when my boyfriend put camping chairs on the roof at Bramham and scratched the living day lights out of it. It now stinks of pony sweat thanks to the turnouts in the boot, grooming kit in the foot well and 3 pairs of my muddy boots and 3 different coats. 2 horses, 3 dogs and going shooting means I've got no chance! This poor car was so beautiful once....sob!!

My old car was a muck heap on wheels, it died and I got a new one and I found the biggest difference made was when I stopped having the dog come in (not to worry, we have a designated "scruffy" vehicle that he goes in!) also keeping wellies in the tackroom and changing into them at the yard.

My car stays pretty clean!

I have a tub trug in the boot and always change my shoes before I go into the car. Dirty horsey stuff goes in the trug and any tack etc goes in the boot!
I also have to do my make-up etc in the car before work so I have wipes that I use once every couple of days takes 2 minutes and stop your car from getting too dusty! Also I have a Yankee candle jar in my car that has small beads in it....best air freshener ever! cost about £5....lasts for months....smells great and it even over powers the horsey smell!

yes!
wellies live in a box in the boot, drive to and from yard in uggs and swap to wellies for yard work, hose them off and then in to box, uggs back on to drive.
yard coat lives in a bag in boot so same-drive their in nice coat(that i ride in)swap for yard work, and at end the manky coat goes back in bag and nice coat back on.
i keep wet wipes in glove compartment for clearing up any smears or smudges as they happen.....................i detest *horsey cars* that stink and are full of hair and grit

car gets cleaned inside and out once a week or fortnight by OH becuae he adores the car and loves to wash it, but previously i cleaned my car on the same schedule :)

I have no advice. I tried to clean my car this morning after driving back from YHL late last night managed to empty the entire contents of a McDonald's large coke over the inside of my car this morning...TWICE just to add insult to injury! Had to drive to work in a sticky car while I perched on a towel.

I had a mouse living in mine recently. I'd left it parked at the yard for a couple of days :(

Best comment ever!

My car is in the middle.

If I clean it out (grab a binbag and chuck the wrappers out, takes 10 mins max) then it looks *ok*, I do this when I can no longer see the back seat.. :o

It is mainly my footwell, despite changing my shoes it is covered in mud, leaves and stones!

Yard boots live in the boot, yard coat is hung up on the back of my seat, it really stops it smelling and it dies off so much quicker.

I have to say my car doesn't actually smell that bad, but I do smoke so I have the window down alot, I wonder if that helps the smell? (OH isn't horsey or a smoker and he says my car smells fairly neutral!)

About twice a year I will get the "urge", I will go get the outside washed, then grab the dettol wipes and clear out, clean and hoover the entire inside. It lasts for about a week :D

My old car was a roving stable, I did make an effort tto clean it when I went home to the UK, so approx. once every 2 years :o Since I got my new car (2 weeks ago!), and it is the newest smartest car I've ever had, I'm making a concerted effort to keep it clean and tidy.

I've instituted a "no eating" in the car rule lol, hopefully that will cut down on the amount of wrappers. My yard boots live in a plastic box in the boot, and I have a pair of "driving shoes", I've started taking it to the jet wash for a wash and hoover on a Sunday morning after yard duties.

So far so good... we'll see how long it lasts ;)

Leather upholstery, rubber mats and boot liner. Remove coats, gloves, hat and shake before putting in car boot. Put tack, feed, shavings etc in boot only.

The dog is more of problem and I avoid letting him anywhere near my car as the hair gets everywhere whatever I do. That'll teach me to have a german shepherd!

Be careful. We had a rat moved into ours, presumably tempted due to OH spilling some pig food in the boot. We only became aware when it ran out of pig food and ate the wiring. Right through; in one night! Car had to be written off.

On the plus side, I hated that car. ;)

Never keep the inside clean, not only do I have to cope the yard Stuff (mud , hay tack etc) I also have small child as well double trouble with muddy boots all over the seats and new species of penicillin growing on sweets that have been dropped between seats. My OH pays for it to be super valeted for Xmas & Birthday, so clean twice a year for a day :D
