To find a loan hacking home for my boy when he is quite high maintenance?

I.e., needs to be stabled overnight all year round, is on supplements that need to be continued, grass intake needs to be guaged (risk of lami)???

I am finding that most people who want a hack on loan want very low maintenance - something that can live out all year round etc etc.

Am I asking too much?

You might be able to if you agree to retain responsibility for some of his costs. Or you might find it easier to find a sharer who gives a financial and time contribution but you retain overall control.

If you continue to pay for the supplements you'll probably be fine with that as long as he goes somewhere where horses are regularly fed, which won't be too hard if he is always in overnight.

With regards to in/out that depends on area. Near me 24/7 turnout is a rare luxury (share horsey only gets it in summer) so your requirement would probably be easier than someone wanting more turnout.

On the lami side of things... again depends on the routine of the yard, e.g. if there are other similar ones he can go into starvation paddock with/if he can go out normally with a muzzle etc.

TBH if he is otherwise an easy safe hack you might be fine.
