OMG...the UK would cease to exist if we got snow like that..lol
None here is North Devon but its expected as the gritters have been out..doubt we'll get any in our village though.we rarely do

It's lovely and sunny here in North Somerset, not too chilly and I have just got back from a short ride
Sorry, that was a bit gloaty...but it's really nice here and I could not resist sneaking out and taking him out for a quick whizz round the block.

Growing up on the edge of the dales we used to get snow exactly like that, digging sheep out, digging to the stables etc - but not anymore

I expect you will have more to come. It started snowing here last night and we have about 1ft of snow and it is still snowing - supposed to go on all night and early tomorrow morning so in all we should have about 2ft by tomorrow. It will be coming your way!
By the way, riding in the snow is fun! I do it for months of the year as we are normally white here for most of the winter.

We are promissed snow followed by freezing rain tonight, so everyone will be tucked up in the barn overnight.
The only problem is mucking out in the morning.
I can't get a wheelbarrow through that lot!
I just have to use a big skip and slide it on the snow.
Its amazing how inventive you get.

Hey Penny, you have way more snow than us. We have been green here for ages and with only little patches of snow where the piles have been stacked. Woke up this morning and it is white everywhere.
It is supposed to get up to +9 degrees on Wednesday LOL!! Totally messed up weather we are having and not typical at all.

this is our first winter here and we have been told by everybody that this is the worst one for severel years!
I don't mind the snow actually, and the horses take it in their stride.
Its the very cold temperatures like minus 20 with wind chill that I don't like.
Like you we are getting wildly flucuating tempertures, which is weird. Minus 20 one day then +7 thay day after?????
What I really don't like is what we have just had which is rain on top of the snow and then a freeze. Very slippy. Not nice to work in.

Have you experienced proper freezing rain before? You're in for a real treat if you haven't!
Horses covered in a 5mm thick film of sheer ice - looks very peculiar.
This has been by far the most mild winter I have experienced here. The first winter, 2004, was the worst I've experienced. We regularly had temperatures of -40; makes -20 pale into insignificance!

Majority of the days been lovely , blue skies and sun , although had a few snow showers and a huge hailstone shower , friggin hailstones where massive , Its not nice getting pelted in the face I can tell yah

Had to fight through a blizzard on the way home. Its weird weather though as there was nothing in town when I left work yet total white-out blizzard as I neared home over a massive hill - 2 cars where even left in laybys on the way up who'd obviously got stuck and the people picked up by 4x4's.
My TREC is cancelled on Sunday which is bloody annoying!! However I do plan to go showjumping instead IF thats on.
