im looking for a good old solid honest chap to loan but finding it hard to find one, loads of experience but still no luck hmmm .....any one with one ??

No it's not hard, you just have to be determind and patient! It depends what area of the country you're in, and what you want the horse for, and whether you want it to move yards. Alot of owners are quite protective, and rightly so, of their horse disappearing off to another yard, where who knows what could happen. You know you're experienced and reliable, but they don't. I would say keep tabs on horsemart/horse quest/horse deals/the ponyclub website - even if you're an adult, because there are quite a few on these sites. Also scour your local equine mags and ad trader, and put a note up in your local shop, and in your local mags, saying what you want. Then it's just a waiting game.

Something will come along, but you have to get in quickly, because a lot of people are looking for horses on loan at the moment!
I have been looking for over a year, for either a loan or a very good bargain. Numerous times, I have seen a horse for loan, or for very cheap sale, who looks really really good, rung up, sounds good, sometimes tried them out, and then either been beaten to the post or decided they're not right, or not even been able to try them before they've been snapped up by someone else. It feels like ones never going to come along, but they really do, you just have to keep looking and checking everyday, because they go so quickly. Goodluck! :D

hi thanks yes i no what you mean by being snapped up before you get a look in!!! im in scotland, only just and so distance for me does play a part but i shall keep my eyes and ears open and one day shall get there ! :)

Horses in Scotland can be thin on the ground -- it seemed that there were just NONE when I was looking. But get your friends to look too - that's what helped me find mine!

I was looking for about 3 years, but i was limiting myself as to how far i would travel, seeing as im still at school and would have to have my parent taxi me everywhere. i eventually gave up and now im starting to look to buy, yes i know its alot different, but im planning on keeping him on full livery to begin with, to get the basics and just get used to it, then go onto DIY (when i can - like school hols and stuff).

I'm gonna loan my horse out when i get it, just to half the workload, unfortunatley im in the SE England so I'm no use.
