is it TCP or detol that repels flys/midges?

i was reading a thread a while ago about sweetitch that i now cant find and it said one of those two was good to rub/spray into the mane or tail and it stopped the midges biting? any light on the subject would be fab

Haven't heard of that one but a friend of mine is trialling Listerine Mouth Wash Original. The results seem to be positive so far!

Detol!!! We use if diluted with water- It was the only thing that kept those horrible horse flies away from us all!

I use a weak solution of dettol and water and either spray or wipe it on with a flannel. It does seem to help and is also quite soothing and cooling when its sunny (remember the sun, that big yellow thing!!)
