I have a 14.1 pony on full loan (as well as my own TB who is now enjoying a lazy life of luxury with his own lovely part loaner!)

I brought my loan pony back into work after he'd had nearly a year off and he's been wonderful. We went out and did really well at lots of shows last year and have had lots of fun.

Due to his height, I'm a bit restricted in what I can do showing wise, and I'd also like to do a bit more XC / jumping - but I think pony was over jumped in the past (he was BSJA) and has had enough.

I've had a great offer from a friend how has a youngster she said I could loan - on a great arrangement too as she is next door.

Only problems are .... 1) I'm hopelessly attached to pony - depite promising myself I wouldn't get attached 2) I know he's on loan - but I eneded up full loaning him as owner had lost interest and he'd spent months ina field - being fed / checked on etc, but he's a real people's pony and loves attention and being ridden. I'm so worried that if I give him up they will just chuck him back out in a field again.

I can't afford to buy him and I can't really afford to keep 3 (although with my friends loan offer I could possibly stretch to that - but its not really sensible!)

I won;t make a decision until at least the end of the summer - but i'd like to start thinking about my options....

oh dont....i know the feeling iv had my 14.2 for 8 years even though im desperate to do a bit more than he is now physically capable of, but i love him to bits

I think if your attached to the pony, then just stick with him, I get hopelessly attached to horses too, so I know exactly how you feel,
Sounds like hes an ace little pony, and enjoys his work,. think I would stcik with him, and enjoy him.

I can totally sympathise; i am also attached to my horse. I find it helps when making decisions like this to get a big piece of paper and do 'pro' and 'con' for each option you have, sometimes writing it down gives you more perspective.

Good luck whatever you decide.
