Is it too late to clip

As title really, is it too late to clip a hairy horror that is getting sweaty when worked?

mine had a blanket clip done at the beggining of winter and is starting to look woolly and hes working more so getting a hunter clip done tomorrow, if the horse is hot then he would be much happier having it off and if he needs it an extra rug

Nope! Fully clipped my wintered out mare on saturday- hadn't clipped her for 2 years due to various illnesses and injuries on her part- so wasn't not the best clip ever but she looks fine- needed a sponge bath after as itchy!

Thank you for your replies, my boy was fully clipped in Oct, (not legs) and has since grown back, I want to start to up his work now to get him fitter and he is getting to hot.

I clip all year round! Its never too late to get the clippers out

Ive been wondering this, i clipped in Nov and was thinking of doing another but thought it would be too late.

I was always told/taught not to clip after Jan 1st....or it would interfere with the summer coat coming through!!! Always stuck with me & never have clipped after 1st Jan.But im sure it cant make that much difference.xx

2 on my yard were done last week. Havent done mine again since October as not ridden as much as I hoped this year and havent had much regrowth .

My chap was fully clipped out last week - and we'll be out showing this summer. Did the same last year, and his summer coat came through beautifully, so certainly works for us!

Thank you all you have made me feel much better, I have arranged for him to have a full body clip this week. He is getting warm just hacking out for an hour in walk.
