Even with the current economic downturn, horses are still selling it seems, but is it worth advertising this close to christmas, do you think?

I have a fab 12.2 jumping machine, sons old pony, that I intended on selling after christmas, but Im afraid Im getting too itchy feet to buy something else for myself. dont really have the time or room for both. Should I give myself a good talking to

well tbh, it depends on if you are paying for the ads and how much you are able to pay.
for me personally if i had spare money to advertise and not be worried about losing then i would go for it
if money were more of an issue i would advertise in free places, no harm in advertsing i reckon, but personally as i am rather broke, and if i wanted to advertise in our current climate i would more than likely go for free advertisements

Difficult time to sell in my opinion at this time of year UNLESS you're lucky enough and your ad is seen by someone who fancies buying a v expensive xmas gift from their son/daughter!

My friend is trying to sell her pony and, I think she's had some interest but then he's just a general 1st/2nd pony so maybe more about to choose from. You never know til you try but as others said it depends what sort of money you have at your disposal for advertising.

With the free ad websites I have stuck up adverts at any time of year - not worrying about what pics etc are like. At the end of the day these ads are free and you aren't going to lose anything at all by advertising on these. If you are advertising somewhere you have to pay - then you will have to think about how much you want to spend on advertising. if you want to minimise advertising costs then I would hang fire a bit

I personally like the free ads - but thats cos I am a tight wad!

Many thanks for all of the responses, practical advice methinks!

I like the free ads too but was thinking of the PC website and horsequest for the more expensive end of the market?

Points are good though, perhaps I should test the water with the free ads?

Anyone know the other free places to advertise?

Where abouts are you and is the pony a safe ride?

Its just that a friend bought a pony for her son which has turned out to be as sharp as hell. They have had it for about a year, but a couple of weeks ago it bolted (and I do mean bolted, not just ran off with him). He ended up being slammed into the fence and then in hospital). Anyway the mum has decided to sell the pony and buy a new one, but the boy has very much lost his nerve. He loves jumping and is a decent little rider, but is now scared stiff.

Do you think yours would be too sharp for a nervous jockey?

BTW The mum is being responsible about the sale of the git faced current pony
