Is it worth getting mite injections before symptoms show?

As the title says really. Boy suffered with suspected mites last year. Seems good now but I was thinking of getting him the mite jabs in the next fortnight to try and preempt any reoccurrence. Is this sensible or not?

In my view, its like putting flea spot on on dogs. Won't stop the fleas, but it lines a companys pocket. Should the animal not get them, the owner then thinks it has worked and repeats.

It depends on what you are using and whether it has a preventative effect and how long it it's active for. I would personally say not based on one occurrence. Maybe he won't ever get them again. If he does you'll spot it straight away and get the correct treatment so he's not going to suffer anyway.

I think you're right FW. I think I'm over thinking it. Since last year I've improved the general care of his feathers and have changed his bedding from straw which already seems to have helped massively. I think I'll wait and if I see him stamping I'll get the vet out. Thank you both for the advice
