I don't know much about the army. When you come back from a tour of duty, do you get some down-time to do your own thing?

Just wondering because you posted before about riding and taking BHS exams. That was less than 10 years ago , so must have been while you were in the Army?
I know you didn't like it all the time but it was good of them to let you do that.

when you come off a tour you get potl (post operation tour leave) + you annual leave + (think it was called ) normalisation it adds up to
it varies from 2 to 3 months all

the army also give you £175 sla (single learning credits ) per year for you to do all most any course / education you want

in the army you have the ktrha (king troop royal horse artillery ) and the household cavalry where you can do your bhs up to tech 2 as well as saddler , farrier (very hard to get in ) coach ect.

i used my sla and because i was riding for my regimental team it helped me to do my bhs

My experience wasn’t good! Shouted/screamed at on a daily basis, totally unreasonable expectations, thoroughly nasty yard managers with no concept of even basic manners, reluctance to even pay the minimum wage, no regard for human safety, abuse of horses, honestly it would take me hours to list it all………absolutely not worth it unless you enjoy being a doormat.

There seem to be some jobs in the equine industry that are worth doing if you have the necessary horse and people skills… horse physios and chiropractors visit our yard on a regular basis and they are charging £80 + for an hours work and see 2-3 horses on every visit .For anyone offering Reiki, Masterson method, crystals and or horse whispering there is also lots of interest and willingness to pay for a nice hour of horse and owner time and it doesn’t look anywhere near as tiring as traditional horse jobs such as teaching, livery yard and equine vet work .
