Is Kannan right for my mare ?

I have a young mare who is Oklund x Karandasj, was recommend Kannan as apparently he is good on mares with Darco in breeding. Any thoughts?
 
her biggest fault is she slightly over the knee & her paces need improvement. Down to a couple of choices - Kannan / Danny Kannan /Ustinov/Upgrade.
 
Being over at the knee is not considered to be a fault in the way that being behind the knee. There have been graded stallions & mares that have been over at the knee, so that is not a problem. What is the aim for this offspring, is it show jumping?
 
No, shes not proven as shes only 3. Was recommended to put her in foal and back her the following year. She has a tremendous loose jump and wonderful attitude being the most grown up on the yard. Looking for a sire to add power and presence. So in summary, the ideal attributes for the foal would be trainable with movement
 
I like Danny Kannan my self having met him!!! also if i remember he is out of a Burgraffe mare, been under saddle 10 week and is showing a super attitude and jump to him.
Kannan doesnt have clean x rays from what the kwpn site says, but how much is down to foal management and feeding?? and he does throw jumpers. Without pictures cant really say what would suit??
 
Thanks Koeffe. I met Danny too. Jonathon threw me on his back in his stable, and he didnt flinch, he was impressive. Think i will go with Danny.
 
Jonathan likes to do that!!! my 4yro son sat on him last year when i dropped a foal off that he had bought!!!! has a super temperament.
 
I have seen a lot of Kannan offspring. He certainly gets an impressive number of jumper offspring but they are often quite plain to look at, and I wouldnt use him unless I was looking to breed a pros top flight horse. I think for amateur owner-breeders, ridability and character has to be the number 1 consdieration, as if it jumps the moon but you cant ride one side of it, its pointless. Sound, athletic, and easy to ride, but not a top prospect, thats what the majority of people need.

Without seeing the mare, bit pointless really. Whoever has recommended Kannan you would hope has met & knows the mare. Brendon & Billy studs have stallions that could fit the bill there are plenty to choose from, but without seeing the mare it's as I said a pointless exercise.
 
Here are some pictures of my mare. However, i have decided not to breed from her just yet. Going to get her backed at the end of this year/beginning of next year.

Would be interested in thoughts on her stamp, as i havent taken her to any youngstock classes so had no unbiased opinions.

I like her, she has a really sunny attitude, and so laid back.

She looks an awful lot like Unbelievable Darco! He had an amazing temperament. Shirley Light has some super showjumpers. Caretino Glory is a lovely boy and has a potential megastar daughter in Sussex Caretino. Don VHP Z is another stunning looker with a super competition record and he's a gentleman in the stable.

If you want more of an allrounder how about Legrande? He's a sweetheart of a stallion, has a good jump and outstanding paces. It doesn't hurt that he's a fabulous colour too.

But if you want some predictability with what you breed then you want a line bred stallion. One that I'd love to use but can't is Cendy. He's pure jumper lines, mostly Holstein, he's line bred to the legendary Cor de la Bryere and his sire, his damsire and his great grand dam sire have all competed at international GP dressage. His damsire, Come Back II is probably the best dual purpose stallion in the world right now. He's in the top 10 WBFSH rankings for dressage-producing stallions and he's also sired literally dozens of 1m60 showjumpers. And Cendy has a fabulous temperament. He's currently competing in showjumping (Foxhunter) and dressage, getting through to the Nationals. If you like bling he's got that too, smart blaze and 4 white socks. I'd be very tempted to use him on your mare. I think you'd get something very nice indeed. :)

Oooh just googled him he is lovely. Hes officially on my list now!
