He looks really well too me. Nice condition, very shiny! Hes a cob, not suposed to be scrawny, as long as hes fit you dont have anything to worry about!
i didn't think he looked too bad, the night before shows i put him on a bare paddock so he's not bloated!! he's only 4 so he's still growing and still getting fed everyday. half scoop of chaff and half scoop of cool mix. their paddocks are quite small too!!!
I think the first piccie is a litte deceptive because of the angle- however going from the 2nd piccie- I would say he is carrying too much weight. ( Not obese- but I would pop him on a diet)
He looks lovely and shiny.....but yes he is overweight. I would be concerned if any of my young horses had a cherub-bottom and a cresty neck like that, particularly at this dangerous time of the year.
His weight is probably just a little above perfect for around about November time; I do like my horses to carry a little excess weight going into winter, but definitely not during the height of the summer months.......but then I have experienced laminitis.
his crest looks big i know but its actually really soft, he's in a small paddock (you can see the size of it in the photo gallery) and the grass isn't very rich,
his bottom is up at the min and his mum had a huge back end!!!
Not obese, but definately more weight on him than I would like to see. It is hard to keep the weight off good doers at this time of year though - my lad barely lost any weight last winter and proceeded to pile is on when the spring came round
