Is NFU in trouble???

I've got 3 claims in 2 have been dealt with in about 2 months, the other, the earliest is with equine first I've heard nothing. I've had a recent claim in for my dog they took 2 weeks to pay out, maybe they should get the staff that deals with small animals to help the equine department out. The only thing with all of my claims I paid the vets so they owed me which seems to make a difference, wrong I know.

Hi just thought I would provide some more info, NFU Mutual York Equine Claims Department are undergoing a lot of changes, the business has expanded on a rapid basis, they moved buildings which was a huge upheaval in itself, people are tending to claim for smaller things they wouldnt normally claim for due to being short on cash with the "recession" therefore increasing workload, also the biggest factor is they have had experts in in the past 6 months or so to look at the current systems and find ways to improve service/procedures for the clients in the long term and thats why a lot of the claims are being outsourced to Equine First to deal with on their behalf. They cant just refuse payment, if you are covered under the policy they cant just NOT pay so if youre unhappy with any aspect of your claim handling please use the complaints procedure. If you are concerned or worried about your claim please contact your agency office in the first instance and ask them to chase for you. When I first read about this on here as an NFU Mutual employee with a lot of horse insurance clients I contact the head of York Equine and she told me if I had specific cases then to get in touch with any queries.

So please be rest assured they are not in any trouble, just trying to make changes to benefit the clients, its just taking longer than expected :-)

That is interesting but I bet the insurance companies have largely shot themselves in the foot here. I suspect the increase has little to do with the recession and much more to do with the changes in terms over the last couple of years that require you to inform the insurers of any medical problems even if you don't claim. In the past people didn't claim if they only went only a small amount over the excess to avoid premium increases and exclusions now there is absolutely no incentive to do this. Whilst I do understand why insurers went this way, I do feel it is a bit of an own goal.

yes they have accepted liability our insurers say they think it is just an admin problem, which pretty much confirms what a lot of you have said that they are just behind with their paperwork.
