Is now a good time to buy hay?

Hi all,

3 months ago I bulk bought 100 bales of hay at £6.50 a bale, the same supplier now has it at £4.50 a bale. I've got about a month's supply left so was wondering if this will be the cheapest it gets as it's new hay?

Should I but now and leave it in the lockup for a month or wait a month and see if it's cheaper? Advice please kind people!

I've just bought 30 bales of new hay which was made in the good weather we had in the springtime.

Price was £4 per small bale (delivered - distance 8 miles), price had reduced from £4.50.

Whether the price will go down or not, I dunno, BUT I needed the security of knowing I've got a bit of hay in.

I Know, that's the thing knowing you have it is worth it's weight in gold!!

Really can't afford another lot at £6.50, oh to have a little farm.....

In the past I have been happy to take last years hay and the farmer has been happy to clear his barn out.After the bad winter though I dont think this was the same situation.

Usually i over order and still have plenty from last year however if I manage to find another horse I will need to buy so I think I would buy it.

Its less than you paid previously. At least thats a bonus.

I just can't believe how much the price varies from season to season and in each area of the country!
