Is regular (not pramox) equest safe? I have heard many varying opinions on it and I need to decide what to use for encysted redworm as it is about this time of year. Thanks

Green Equest fine with my laminitic- I feed protexin a few days before and after though. I tapeworm test and count for the rest though to avoid Pramox.

Never had a problem with it.

In fact I've only ever had a problem twice with Pramox and I used to worm a yard of 40+ horses. One was a horse who turned out to have severe ulcers (went footy) & the other was a cob from a dealer who in hindsight was probably riddled. She got hot & sweaty so I had her on colic watch but a entire tube of protexin sorted her thankfully

AFAIK - Equest (moxidectin) is the only wormer for encysted redworm, there aren't alternatives. NOT worming for encysted redworm is a real risk.

In common with others I would happily use Equest but would never use Pramox.
Panacur Guard is another option for encysted. I'm sure I read that at one point there were once thought to be resistance issues with Guard so do your research but I think they were at least semi dispelled.

Not quite the only option, panacur guard 5 day is also suitable for targeting encysted redworm.
My lot are on day 4 atm because they include 2 foals and a mini shetland yearling who can't be given moxidectin.

Ironically it was the adult TB who colicked after his first dose 😒
