Well I'm very confused my little JRT was mated 7 weeks ago and she is not obviously pregnant....


She is eating lots and trying to steal food whenever she can and she's not usually a big eater.

here she is:



She does feel 'fuller' than ususal and is currently not sleeping very well and being grumpy.

She is one from a small litter of three so what do you thing is my baby going to give me babies????
 
Dogs pregnancies last approx 63 days, my terriers go at about 60-61, dont think your bitch has caught...........Carreg
 
What about popping along to the vets? They can do an ultrasound - plus is there not a chance of phantom pregnancy? Its best to get it checked out.

I would say, yes she is pregnant. Dogs dont show until about the last couple of weeks. All of a sudden she will become huge. Feed her four times a day and cook for her, chicken and mince.

I had my bitch scanned, it only cost £40.00 and it told me exactly how many puppies she was having. This turned out to be life saving. When she was whelping there was an interval of 2 hours, I phoned the vet who said leave it, I knew something was wrong and insisted she was brought it (Sunday, middle of night). The last four puppies were stuck and she had to have an emergency op, they were brought out dead and we managed to revive them.

If I had listened to the vet, I could have lost my bitch.

The scanning saved her life and I think it is important to know how many to expect to prevent this sort of thing happening. £40.00 is nothing and worth every penny.

Good luck, my bitch was the same, no weight gain, but pinching food etc. She is giving you the clues.

PS watch out for where she is deciding to have the litter, my bitch wanted our bed and a few days before got upstairs and shredded our quilt. They can choose the oddest of places. She was also a week early.
 
As Filly says, she could be pregnant. Puppies do not grow bone until the last couple of weeks so if she only has one or two it may not be very obvious yet. On the other hand, she may be having a phantom pregnancy which can be a bit of pain! Get the vet to check her, he/she will be able to hear heartbeats etc!
 
When my dog had puppies she didnt start showing until the last few weeks and was going around as normal.

Is she KC registered? Hope you get good loving homes, unfortunately there is a high chance that pups end up in new homes or rescued centres within the first 2 years of life.
