Weighed Beauty according to my weight tape she is 318kg but that may be off as she was fidgiting.
She is a 44 year old welsh section D

a very lucky pony, to have such a nice retirement! and a massive bed!!
For a young sec D... no way. That is way off. More 480kg however, at 44 I think she sound great. We are just coming out of winter and spring will put some back on.
It depends on the height... My section D mare is 14.1 hh, and weighs around 400 kgs on the weigh tape, and according to the vet she is the right size and shape. Last summer she weighed 440 kgs and got laminitis so we have had the opposite problem to OP in getting the weight off. Now I weigh tape weekly and ask the vet and farrier to look at her condition as I find it too hard to judge changes in a pony I see twice a day.
My poor vet would have a heart attack if my pony weighed in at 480 kgs!
My mare is 21 - I hope she lasts as long and as happily as yours has - you are obviously doing something right!
She's looking really good for her age, in fact I'd never have guessed she was that old! I did laugh at her bed at around 2.30 - not much chance of her getting cold!
Tallyho! I've got a 7yo welsh cob that's around 14.2, on my weightape he's about 465kg & I'm trying hard to get weight off him as he should be a lot lighter than he is.
She will thank you for keeping her lean, overweight on old ones is far worse than coming out of winter looking as good as she does.
I agree with the others if our welsh section d was was 480 she would be huge, she is 14.2 and at 440 looks like the side of a house, this time of year she needs to be sub 400 to ensure a healthy summer!
