Is she too thin??......feeling deflated

I have just been to pick Zoom up from her owner's friend's yard where she has been for a week (owner plays horseball on her a couple of times a year).

I put her in the lorry and the lady said 'I've been pumping the poor thing full of feed because she's looking quite skinny'.

I was like 'really??!!'........she said 'yes, she's looking very light'

I was really taken aback!

I am now really worried, I think she is looking better than ever. She is a tb and is really fit so she is quite lean. She is also a bit tucked up tonight from being in a strange yard for a week.

I know jumping pics aren't the best but they're the only recent ones I have as it was dark at the field when I arrived. Be honest, do you think she is too thin?

With Monty's mystery illness and Zoom being emaciated I feel like I should just give up! I obviously don't know how to look after a horse. Feeling crap!

I thought I was doing well with her but now I don't know. This is her when I got her 18 months ago:

from the top pics she looks great the one when you got her looks awful, your not rubbish we can see that she is very well looked after....she's an ex polo pony too isnt she if I remember rightly, so she's not going to be that big...and Tb's aren't supposed to look fat either just enough coverage and you say shes fit and lean looking well thats great then surely?
Dont listen to her from the pics above i think your doing a great job with her...

Its where she has been clipped, do not feel so disheartened.
Too many people have fat horses and sadly there are too many warped views of horses weight, I would rather see a horse that may need a little extra then a fat horse any day.
She will settle, she will be using a bit more energy as you have just moved yards, its no where near as bad as all that, she is a tb after all and they tend to be slim.
She looks fit to me, you could have a little more weight on her, but she looks perfectly healthy and happy. My girl drops weight some weeks then other weeks she looks a bit covered.
Like i said, far better to have one that needs an extra feed than one who is fat and at major risk of laminitis or other fat related nasties!
 
IMO she looks much better now and certainly not skinny! She's a fit TB. However like you say it may just be that going to a different yard and in a stressful environment has made her tuck up and go slightly downhill in a week. One of the horses I ride is a stressy little TB who struggle to hold weight anyway, she had put some on, was looking much better, I took her hunting where she stressed and sweated for 3 hours and it literally seems to have set her back a couple of weeks weight wise. (However it has not affected her energy levels!)
 
She looks thin when you got her, and just fine in the pics from 10 days/2 weeks ago, so if she looks like the latter now, then I wouldn't worry.

However a horse can drop a surprisingly amount of week in just a week, (especially if they are at another yard and on another routine suddenly) so perhaps if she has come home looking fine then it is because she dropped off whilst she was away, and the other rider upped her food. Just keep an eye on her - your eyes are the best guide when it comes to feeding

Don't be daft, she looks amazing! Not even lean, just perfect. Lots of lovely muscle too.

Silly woman, some people just like their horses to be overweight. To be honest not many people these days seem to know a fit horse from a skinny one from a fat one, and as a result have overweight horses.

Keep your chin up, from the before picture and your previous posts, you are doing a fantastic job and i'm sure your horses will agree. And they're the ones that matter after all.
 
Wow! I went to make a sandwich and came back to all your lovely replies!

I know I shouldn't take things to heart but I hate it that someone thinks I don't look after her properly when, in reality, I'd do anything for my ponies.

stop worrying!!! she looked bloody awful before, but is now a normal, fit healthy TB!! you've done a great job with her!! Silly woman...
 
your pony looks bloody good to me. I bet the woman has a grossly over weight welsh tucked away somewhere. Take no notice your done fine. Your pony could win any showing class, judges are not looking for obese ponies anymore, heathly eating is much better.

keep up the hard work your doing.
 
GOOD GOD NO she isn't thin at ALL!! She looks fantastic!!

If she put more weight on you would be stressing her joints etc.

This woman sounds like my Ex mother in law who kills all her dogs with kindness they all end up so fat they can't walk!!

I have stopped going to see her as I feel so bad for the poor things
 
She looks a totally different horse. You have done a great job with her and she now looks amazing. Ignore the woman as she obviously needs to go and get her eyes tested
