I've been reading lots of info recently which all seems to contradict each other.

So...is it really that bad to feed soy products or am I just falling for the scaremongering?

I fed it and it put condition on the horse. If feeding high amount you will need a vitamin E supplément. It is a complete no no for horses with liver damage.

I understand about omega imbalances & anti/pro inflammatory issues but I've been reading about its' effect on the pancreas and that long term it can lead to metabolic syndrome & other nasties. There does seem to be a lot of negativity about feeding it on a permanent basis but yet it's also still marketed as a good oil to supplement feed with in certain circumstances.

Very confused

I'm in the same boat as you are sonjafoers...

I'm sticking with soya oil/meal/milk/edamame is bad. It's cheap and matches more expensive products nutritionally but thats all.

Easy to say they eat bucketloads of it in the east, but the chinese, malays and indians ferment thier soya as they know it's not to be eaten raw or cooked. They do not eat soya oil as far as I know - it's not a preferred oil. I lived in the far east for many years.

most of thier diet consists of rice, fish, coconut and palm oil.
